Technomate 6800 hd HDMI connection

Hi
I have got the manual for the above model and i am looking to see how to connect it up to my tv, i have used up all my scart sockets at the back of my tv, however i have a hdmi input on the side of the tv at the rear.
Is it necessary to connect the technomate receiver with a scart cable and leads as suggested in their diagram or can i use the hdmi lead from technomate to hdmi input of the tv as i dont intend to record on my dvd recorder and dont mind manually switching av channels via the remote
Am i right the hdmi is for both audio and visual?
Ive not purchased the reciever yet just doing some ground work on it

My System: Sky+ HD, TM-3500 D+ USB PVR, CD Total (FI)

if you use HDMI, there's no need to use Scart, as they are separate inputs, so if you use both, you'll have the same TM showing up on your TV inputs twice, one as a Scart and the other as a HDMI.

Just check that the HDMI output and input support needed audio through, as IRCC, there's some versions of HDMI with limited audio (pending on your home theater set up).

V1.0 - two-channel PCM audio up to 48kHz/24-bit including standard Dolby 5.1 and DTS 5.1 bitstreams.
V1.1 - up to 8-channel PCM audio up to 192kHz/24-bit.
V1.2 - as V1.1, plus DSD audio (for SACD) at 1.824Gb/s.
V1.3 - (proposed) as above, plus Dolby Digital+ and DTS-HD enhanced audio.

Yep, both Audio and video come down the HDMI lead from the TM6800 HD.
