Motorised kit, is it suitable?

I am looking to purchase the following;

80cm oval dish (white)
LNB
Motor
Wall mount and pole to hold above an apex - can be used with traditional mount.
Tecnomate 1500ci box (gets thor etc - and a few others now!)

Would this be a suitable set up? I will probably sell the receiver and use my DM800 instead.

Is there anything I should know? Will the dish pick up most satellites and channels?

Thanks.

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

It depends upon how "oval" it is!

In general an 80cm Dish is a good choice for mainstream reception as it will get you more than 90% of what is eventually possible (with mega dish etc.)

Why get a kit that comes with a Receiver you intend to sell on?

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy the Dish/Motor/LNB/Installation Kit?

It is second hand kit, the seller is selling his set-up. I will try to find out the brand or get pictures from the seller.

Almost certainly the TD78.

You'll be absolutely fine with that

Mind you - the logo isn't blue.............

Well as you didn't really want the Receiver that came with it anyway, surely it would be about the same cost if you just buy new the bits you do want?

I'm sure you could get something like a TD88 or a Fracarro Penta at a decent price. And Motors, LNBs etc are not overly expensive, even for an impoverished Yorkshireman like me!
