My System: Skymaster DCI9900 + PC/twinhan combination. 80cm dish. GBPVR with 2 DTTV cards +hauppauge Media MVP

The positioning is critical. An inch out and get nothing. Also, the receiver may take a second or so to lock so you need to move slowly, a fraction at a time and if you don't get anything then alter the elevation slightly and try it again. Also double check that you have made the connections properly on the ends of the cable

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

Fortunately, the Silvercrest has a very useful built in "Beeper" which negates the need for a Sat Finder or to be able to see the TV screen whilst aligning.

I whack mine into my Audio System and blast it out of the window when doing alignments at home!

It's not just the Silvercrest though that needs setting up, the dish and LNB skew may be the same type as that sold by Maplin with their Passion HD box. Nothing wrong with the system, just the set up is not as one would expect.

It might be worth buying a 10 Euro signal meter, just for that bit of confidence on the roof.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
