help; no signal

i purched and instaled a new digital sat system with reciever SL65 and antenna CO80 universal twin LNB. i have tried most things to solve the problem ,has anyone an idea how? the menu comes up on tv ok, but says NO SIGNAL. i went to astra 22.8 sat and scan for that and it still says no signal, i tried TP scan and it comes up with signal intensity of 83% and signal quality 14%. i have no signal for tv or radio channels and i tried scanning for all stalites in turn., i bought it in lidl. i live in galway ireland and local tv agents wont touch only their own dishs.

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

The Satellite you want is 28.2, not 22.8, but your problem is most certainly failing to align the Dish correctly.

When you get close to the correct position, you'll see the quiescent Strength and Quality readings you've got (which indicate little more than that you've got an LNB connected) swing sharply upwards.

You need to be accurate to within a degree or so, not just in direction but also in elevation.

i did swing the dish upwards from 1 degree to 45 degrees up and then the signal intensity off 83% went to zero% while the signal quality remained at 14%. i even attached the dish to a mobile pole today, and had a guy stand at different posisions around the south east side of house and in each posision we scanned and no signal still. i do relise it is a posision problem,

My System: IDD CI24 ECONO MM Penta 1.20 Galaxy II 1.2Mtr Polar MTG yes it has been on the arc for 21 years and is still driven by a modified wiper motor from a Ford Anglia. It's like me sometimes groans but always performs

Well

You have to be millimeter perfect, it is not like the analogue days, each time you make an adjustment you need to wait 20 seconds for the equipment to process the signal. In general you dish will be approximately horizontal in appearance from the side as per pic below

There are tutorials on the forum

This sounds like a job for :-

enter your street location and select the satellite you are after..
You'll get a line pointing the exact direction you need to be aiming ...and dishpointer will also provide the elevation setting for your dish at your location.
