New to satellite - help.

Hi there

I'm currently on standard digital freeview via an aerial and I'm thinking about switching to Freesat but I have no idea what I'm doing so I was hoping someone could help me get started.

I need to purchase a dish etc and I then want to run it into two rooms so that each room can individually choose their channels.

Each room will also require a receiver with hard drive recorder and one room will pay for ESPN.

That's about it really - so what do I need??

Thanks for your help

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

Zone 1 "Sky" Dish pack with Quad Output LNB and Installation Kit

Lots of Satellite Grade Double Screened Cable

Humax Foxsat PVR (or equivalent) for Freesat

Sky+ Box and Subscription for ESPN

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

As far as I know, ESPN requires a Sky digibox, Freesat receivers are exactly that, they are not designed for pay channels. You can get ESPN on the TopupTV package I believe, with an appropriate terrestrial digital receiver.

A Sky minidish with quad LNB should do for serving both Freesat receiver, you will need to run two feeds to each room.
