We have a couple of motorised set up guides here which are very informative. With the correct tools, a little patience, a working motorised installation can be achieved. Edit: pipped again.

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me. |
If you don't do that, you may as well not bother. If you do do that, the rest is a cakewalk.

Are you going to use a meter or the receiver? Edit: Also 5.0°W or 8.0°W will be your reference satellite subject to where you are in Ireland.

Greenwich Meridian which is the line of longitude is defined as 0°, (google Greenwich Meridian). Your longitude is -8.4705° or 8.4°W. This is due South for your location. Your reference satellite will be 8°W. A compass bearing will be ok for a starting point.

You enter your longitude and motorise the motor to a satellite closest to ie, 8W. The software calculates the difference and moves to position ......and then you align on that satellite.
