My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

There are a couple of guides at the top of this section which explain it precisely.

Hi, the hardest part I'd say is doing the research first. We have a couple of motorised set up guides here which are very informative.

With the correct tools, a little patience, a working motorised installation can be achieved.

Edit: pipped again.

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

Paying close attention to the fundamentals - especially getting the Mount Plumb vertical all round.

If you don't do that, you may as well not bother.

If you do do that, the rest is a cakewalk.

Ok, how are you proposing to align the dish. Are you going to use a meter or the receiver?

Edit: Also 5.0°W or 8.0°W will be your reference satellite subject to where you are in Ireland.

Ok first, South has a compass bearing of 180 degrees. Greenwich Meridian which is the line of longitude is defined as 0°, (google Greenwich Meridian). Your longitude is -8.4705° or 8.4°W. This is due South for your location. Your reference satellite will be 8°W.

A compass bearing will be ok for a starting point.

Take a look at the setup guides.

You enter your longitude and motorise the motor to a satellite closest to ie, 8W. The software calculates the difference and moves to position ......and then you align on that satellite. All explained
