Setting Up Echostar DSB 2110

Hi,

I am new to this subject. I have an old echostar DSB 2110. We had this connected some years ago but had removed it. We did restore all factory settings therefore, I need to set this up again (if I remember how to).

I have connected my LNB in (coming from the dish), and the scart from my Satellite Reciever to my TV.

I have a Seca Card. The signal doesn't go beyond 12%.

Can anyone help me with the settings I have to do to set up my Reciever. I had removed all the satellites when selected restore factory settings.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

Luke

ps. Do the free to air programs need any type of card?

FTA channels are free so you don't need any cards. or cams, to open them.
Are you using a fixed or motorized dish?
You will need to add the required satellites, and channels, in your receiver by using the menu options.
Can you please post more details regarding your dish and which satellites you can view.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I have a fixed dish. The thing is when I select add a satellite, the signal doesn't go beyond 12%.

I used to view These satellites: Hotbird, Astra, Nova, (Tele+ and Canal + (those with the card)).

If you need further detail please let me know. When I'm searching for channels it's giving me 'No Channels Found'.

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

Well as you haven't used the system for a while, the problem could be any one (or more!) of:

Misaligned Dish

Degraded Cabling

Faulty LNB

Incorrect LNB setting in Receiver

I dare say they are others!

It needs a thorough spring clean from end to end, I imagine.

Do you know what are the correct settings for the LNB receiver?
Maybe if I change the settings, the signal will improve
(don't know if it makes sense)

If you have a fixed dish and viewing more than one satellite then you must be using multi LNB's, or a monbloc, so you need to set up the Diseqc settings, in the menu.
I'm assuming that you mean Astra 1, 19E and Hotbird 13E, and you are viewing the Nova package, or are you viewing Astra 2, 28.2E?

My System: I have an Echostar DSB - 2110.

Yes The Hotbird 13E and Astra1 19E.

and yes it's a Monbloc

In the LNB setting Menu I have these Options:

LNB Type Index: (Type 1 - 8)
LNB Freq. Low:
LNB Freq. High:
Switch Type:
Switch Port:
Polarity Control:
LNB Frequency band control:
Ku/C Control:
0/22Khz Control:
0/12V Control:
LnB Power:

and in the Program Satellites Menu I have these Options:

Satellite:
LnB Type:
TP/Polar:
Symbol Rate:
Position:
Step Move:
Search Type:

The signal appears on this menu (12% max). And I'm guessing maybe its the settings on the Satellites. I was wondering if anyone could guide me through these settings

Thanks

Luke

Ok:

Look in LNB Type index - If there is an entry similar to Universal or Universal 1 or Universal 9750/10600, select that.

If that succeeds, it will grey out some of the other options.

Do ensure, though, that LNB Power is "On"!

Now, select Switch Type as DiSEqC 1.0 (actually, tell us what options appear .......)

And select Switch Port A for Hotbird and B for Astra.

It'd be nice if it all springs to life without having to do anything to the Dish/LNB/Cable

well I guess changing the LnB shouldn't be such a big deal. The cable would be a problem
