Strongest / Reference Transponders

The thread is designed for those who may not be aware which transponders to set on their receiver when aligning their dish, we have had hundreds of posts from members experienceing problems with finding a satellite and very often it is because their receiver has defaulted to an inactive or out of footprint transponder. In an ideal world we would have a list for each of the different areas, as what you can definitely see in Greece, may not be seen from the UK with similar dish size.

We have also endeavoured to find transponders which have FTA offerings where possible and higher symbol rates for more robust reception.

STRONGEST TP/ Channels (MID UK 75e-74w KU Band) LIST UPDATE 06/06/08

These are the strongest Channel/ transponder lists per satellite 75e-74w from the centre of the UK as recorded on one average sample system in mid UK 1.1m Triax/ TMS1000/ Sharp .3 lnbf. 30m cable. Busy in line of sight horizon to horizon limited at 45e 45w plus estimated with a small dish from a vanatage point beyond 45e/w- extreme east estinmated only! Some channels blank but still give signal.

No but I may include meter readings in the next update in April 2009 after these satellites are fully in service:-
Astra 1M for 19.2 east,14 transponders working currently,
Hotbird 9 & 10 for 13 east,
Eutelsat W2A for 10 east,
Express AM44 for 11 west,
Telstar 11N for 37.5 west,

OK, it does help some if they try to get a weak satellite with the wrong dish size.

I can get quite a few horizontals on 7W up to 48Q but after 10pm. Still watchable though and most verticals during the day unless it rains!! Hope this is useful, though please remember that I'm a bit further south than the UK in relation to certain footprints.
