Strongest / Reference Transponders

I would like to create a list of the strongest transponder for each satellite. When trying to find a sat with a motor is much easier when you know the strongest transponder, and best would be to add to that one or two channels with FTA signal.

So, let's have 'em!

Important note

As this is a sticky thread please do not post questions that are not relevant to this thread. I only want to see lists of transponders of various sats and information that can be used for tuning into a weak signal. All irrelevant posts will be deleted, shreddered and slashed

For all other questions there is a whole lot of forum left for it, posting there will make sure you get an answer to your problem

Great idea.. Especially for the newcomer who is searching for a transponder that no longer exists and thinks he cant get that satellite. This happened me last year after spending days looking for something that was`nt there.

I asked the very same question only a few days ago at alt.satellite.tv.europe. I had just received a new receiver and was trying to save myself some time with the tuning. Anyway I've gone through 20+ satellites and these were the strongest transponders for me. I have a motorised 80cm dish with 0.6db lnb. I'm sited in Bedfordshire and use a Finepass twin tuner receiver. Obviously transponder strength will vary depending on location and I do not have every transponder programmed.

Here they are:
45e 11.495V 3254
42e 11.135V 4444
39e 12.524V 27500
36e 12.695V 3030
28.2e 10.773H 22000
26e 11.919H 27500
23.5e 11.675H 27500
19e 10.832H 22000
16e 11.554V 28800
13e 10.758V 27500
10e 11.054V 4375
7e 11.175V 27500
5e 11.766H 27500
1w 11.189V 2142
5w 12.543H 27500
8w 11.556H 27500
12.5w 11.132H 3255
15w 11.494V 17464
18w 11.661H 5632
22w 11.613H 1655
27.5w 11.665V 12223
30w 12.012V 27500

Great stuff chaps!! Could you maybe also add to each transponder one FTA channel and details? That way it would be even better, and make it easier for the unexperienced to find the sats.

Good work guys, keep it up

I west I got 11421 / 241501 H as a very strong transponder.
One thing I try is go to the BBC World station at 11342 / 24501 H or to any BBC World on any satellite, they seem to use a fairly strong signal anywhere, as well as being FTA

It's very low down on the Geo arc, but if you have a perfectly clear view of the eastern horizon, you might be lucky (ground noise may be a problem though)

My System: MYOB

Here's my take from NW England:

53E 11044 V 29800 3/4
45E 11627 V 01320 7/8
42E 11812 H 27500 3/4
39E 12524 V 27500 3/4
36E 12686 V 04340 1/2
33E 11472 H 30000 5/6
28E 10744 H 22000 5/6
23E 11475 V 27500 3/4
19E 10773 H 22000 5/6
16E 11554 V 28800 7/8
13E 11862 H 27500 3/4
10E 11607 H 27500 5/6
07E 11471 H 30000 5/6
05E 12303 H 25548 7/8
01W 11421 H 24500 7/8
05W 12543 H 27500 3/4
08W 12649 V 27500 5/6
11W 11483 V 12800 3/4
12W 11345 H 30000 3/4
15W 11494 V 17469 3/4
22W 11675 H 05632 3/4
30W 11811 H 27500 3/4

Now that it's set up, and having played with the motor a bit, I've found it not really necessary to know which is the strongest signal. With my motor, three nudges is equal to one degree. To find a new satellite I just count nudges from the nearest known position and then do a transponder scan. While this is happening I make a note of the transponder with the best signal quality. I change to that one, tweak the position and then scan again.

thank you for all the information on here folks it is helping me a lot I am blocking the words, then using the control C to copy, when in word I place the cursor where ever I want the information in word to go and then use control V to past, placing them in word for a later date rather than trawl through the fantastic forum for usful information.

Not sure if this helps but....

http://www.lyngsat.com shows list of pretty much all Satellites, Packages and Frequencies and it is updated on a reasonably regular basis.

An excellent source of information theock, it is in our links section, but this thread is for lists of strong reference transponders for assisting in setting up motorised and fixed dishes.

Hi dynamo985

Read this thread from the start, all the information that you require is there. All depending upon your dish size and a clear look angle you should get signals from satellites usually along the arc 45* east to 45* west.
