Motor Dilemma

I heard from various sources that motors aren't that good machines.
They have many disadvantages such as they break easily, that they make the signal of the whole satellite weaker and that it is better to have different dished to receive different satellites.

Although, I was attracted by the idea that I would be able to get every satellite with the motor, now I am feeling insecure and confused on what to do...
Please help me.. Any +ves and -ves! Thanx!

Hi Gladiator
The motor to the dish is only using power on the cable whilst it is in motion.
I see you live in Cryprus and do not know what size dish is required, but if the one you are using is above 1mt I think you would be better off 36volt actuator, remember the only way to increase signal strength is with a bigger dish.

My dish is 1,80m... and i heard that a good motor for my dish is too expensive...
If it is 36v.. what's the price of this? :P

My System: humax 5400z patched to hot 7.5, v box mrk2, 1.1m triax dish, jeager 12" activator .6 lnb, modified pet123 settings

Le grand ordre d'arrangements de Humax

hi gladiator,
well thats a first, i have never read anywhere that a mount would interfer with the signal.
anyway as loftyj has said anything above 1M dish you need a 36v jack, they are much better for the larger dishes.
the only benefit you would get from multiple dishes would be the fastest zapping.
but when you think that from 45e to 45w would only take about 45 sec with a diseqc mount and about 35sec with a 35v jack you are not really talking much.
regards
phil

providing your reciever can run 36v stuff then all you will need is the jack, in the uk about 70ish £, and the h to h polar mount to suit your dish, maybe about 50ish£, then if you have only a lnb lead then you will have to run a new lead i think 4core to run the jack, two for the power and two for the switch
i think thats all, though i have only a 1.1m dish so cannot work from experience, but i would go in this direction,

Not an easy question to answer without knowing your set up, ie: has your reciver got a 36 volt output,is your mounting a polar mount, do you require to go H to H, or only cover 2 or 3 satellites.
Have you looked at any of your neighbours set up to see what thay use.

Phillpayne beat me to it but can confirm Jack will require 4 core cable, and if no 36 volt supply £50 FOR V BOX

My System: Channel Master 1.2m motorised, V Box, Technomate 1500ci.

The model number for the BEC with the 36V motor option is 6800CIP - P for positioner, I believe.

Can you take a quick tour behind your receiver, note down each and every bit of terminals and post on for us to see clearly.

My System: Channel Master 1.2m motorised, V Box, Technomate 1500ci.

I have the 36v motor positioner model of the BEC6800 - if there's any further confusion, I can take some pics and post them when I get home from work.

OK, what you have is the 6800 with embedded Irdeto CAM with no positioner (Model DB-6800 IRCI as shown on the front CI panel). If you want a 36V motor, it's a V Box as already mentioned. Incidentally there is a DB-6800 IRCIP model with inbuilt positioner.

The V Box does a conversion from DiSEqC to 36V for the heavier duty motor. The reason that you need 4 cores to the motor is there's also a feedback sensor. Otherwise your question has already been answered by Phillpayne and Loftyj with costs.
