signal strength confusion

hi
i have a 1mtr atsat dish pointing at hotbird getting only 350 channels , now i know i should get atleast double/treble that , thing is my quality is 100 on multivision 1-7 , tps stuff , most other channels are min 80 so why would i recieve so few channels ?
their are no obstructions all new cable , all i think is possible is the dish offline even a fraction (if so would i still get 100 quality ?)
thanks in advance

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Have you chacked to see if your receiver has the complete transponder list? It probably won't scan what it doesn't know is there.

Have you checked your transponder list against the one on Lyngsat?

Is your receiver capable of carrying out a network scan? If so try that, if not you will have to manually input transponders and then scan them for extra channels.
Take note of rolfw's posts above.

when i use the channel list from this site i get a fraction of the channels (which is fine after all we are not all in the same location or the same size dish ), the lyngsats ones , i dont get

some hot bird 1
about half hotbird 6

thing is can the dish be offline a touch , is it still poss to get 100q (say on multivision m6 music etc ) and not be straight ?

Unzip this and replace your Transponders folder in ProgDVB with it.
Then try another scan and let me know what happened.

I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one.
