Motor Tuning to Astra

Hi guys....

I have just installed a new Diseqc Manhattan (as per profile ---------- ) and I can move to 13E and then to Skys 28E fine.

I seem to have a real issue jumping to anything else My Humax HDCi2000 has the recalculate button which I used after tuning Hotbird in. However it doesnt auto goto the Astra for instance.

I feel the hair turning grey as we type !

Ive read the stickies and stuff (cant see Nord anything for a basepoint).

Can I assume that the dish is aligned ok due to the 2 sats that are ok ?

Regards

JL

(im trying to keep posts relevant to the questions I have and not all in one, I dont want to hijack my own threads on different issues)

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

Try not to assume anything komp, it will normally lead you up a blind alley.

We had a huge thread a few years back where a person just couldn't get a signal from Astra 28.2, no matter how much he remade the connections, checked the LNB voltage, swapped out receivers, we had all assumed he knew that he had to point the dish exactly, not roughly in the right direction.

Just because you can get two satellites, does not mean that the dish and motor settings are correct, is there something obstructing Thor at 1W, as I wonder why you have not set this as your reference?

its really weird as I have just got home and first thingss first and all that

OK heres the outcome....

Tuning to astra no chance for signal or quality !!!!

I flipped over to lyngsat and got the 11914 H tp 75 SR 27500 FEC 9/10 for premiere sport as a guide and specified that and the searched and search (glad its motorised) and then I got 77% Sig and 99% qual .

Saved location (humax hdci-2000) and no nothing . I did a search anyway and "wayhay" its upto now found Total : 980 listings of which I can see this is deffo Astra

Well happy. Big thanks for the input on my Q's. Well impressed with info and quidance here (if you cant tell im well happy).

So until the next Q......

thanks

The signal bars can be misleading (i.e. show zero) in the Humax when initially setting up and storing satellites.

Best way (as you have found) is to input a 'live' transponder in 'search channels' on the satellite you are on to (even though this may be already in the database). If you are aligned on that satellite, the sig. bars will show a reading, and you can then search all TP's and store.
