My System: 1m ? dish pole mounted in back garden, bigsat hh motor mount, 0.2db universal single lnb, technomate 1000c1, viaccess 2.5 cam, 1yr art subs card
best way to mount dish

i have bought a motorised system which i want to setup i have all the gear sitting but i have a little problem i need to setup my dish so it can face south but my house is a terraced house (houses joined on both ends) and the only walls i could mount the dish on face east and west so i cant mount it there as it would not be able to move freely through its arc. i thought about mounting it in the garden but there is nothing readily available to do so so what i was wonderin was can i easily build something to mount it on and what i need to consider in doing so. bearing in mind that im not a builder is there something simple i can do or do i need to get a builder. hope you can help thanks

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

If you have a good line of sight in the garden for the arc, then simply a pole mounted in concrete should do.

it would need to be at least 2m high so i think a pole that length may sway about in the wind

Not necessarily, a scaffold pole will keep pretty stable at that height and a 3 inch mast will be even better.

What size dish are you going to use fersey, if it is 90cm or less, then a scaffold pole will be fine.

My System: Sky+HD Astra+Hotbird FTA on 60 cm dish

Local streetlighting contractor may have some scrap lighting columns that are 76mm in diameter, you can either cut the wide base off or keep it on for some extra stability.
