My System: PAS 7/10 P3 700MHz

the size of your dish is very important because most of the satellite footprint are not in africa.
go to this website(www.lyngsat.com) and search for the channels you want to view in.you will get the satellite position, its footprint and the encrytion (or whether free to air).

enjoy ur stay in africa.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

I'm pretty sure that you will not be able to receive the BBC and ITV channels in Tanzania, at least not without a massive dish, costing several thousand pounds..

the diameter is about 7 feet, we get channels from india and china, the satellite moves as well so gnna give it a go, so it all depends on the footprint of the satellite, cheerz for your advice, i hate the commentary on the local channels, what other channels have good world cup coverage?

I double checked it, i can recieve the BBC and ITV channels at 28.2 on Astra 2d, any advice on this and how to set it to get this, the frequency i think is 10744 H (ITV) and 10788V (BBC1)?

7 feet will not do it, not even close, probably more like 7 metres, you are hugely outside the footprint. For the Northern most points of Africa, you are talking about 4.5 metre dishes as an absolute minimum, so anything South of that is next to impossible.
