Lidl Comag SL55 Problem

Hi folks!
I've had my 80cm monoblock dish set up for a while now, but in the last 48 hours my SL55 has stopped working and subsequently started up again. I am sure the dish has not moved as I managed to watch astra and hotbird last night. This morning neither one works again. Do you think it might be the box malfunctioning? Do I finally have the excuse I've been looking for to get a Technomate?
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Are all the cables in place?

If not, get a Technomate

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

If there was rain overnight, then perhaps you have water getting into the connections.

It has been quite damp. It all depends on the time of day. Right now - mid-afternoon - it works fine. In the evenings it doesn't want to know. I have checked all my connections and they seem fine.
I was really wondering if the cheap Lidl box had just run out of puff.
Would you folks recommend getting a p*atched Technomate? I would like to recieve all the Astra and Hotbird Portuguese channels.
Cheers,
mrtomato.

The patch isn't going to do much for you right now.

If neither 'side' of the monobloc is working, I'd check/replace/dry-out/re-tape your cables and connectors and work out for sure where your problem lies before spending any more cash on a receiver.

Unless of course you want your SL55 to be dead and you're just looking for an excuse to give to mrstomato...

I'll give that a go this weekend. I am sort of looking for an excuse for a p*tched box. Maybe I should wait until Lidl's inevitable satellite box promo later this year, get a new one and then patch my old SL55?! The agony of choice!

Patch won't get you much extra just now - maybe worth the wait.

Lidl usually sell Comag or Silvercrest kit.

Keep visiting the site and you'll see when anything new opens.

You could try using your receiver on a friends dish.

My System: 0.3dB Fortec Star lnb, 90cm Fortec Star dish, Silver Crest SL65 receiver, Stab HH90 motor...

I've found that I'm having trouble with my Lidl Comag SL65 due to the heat - if I point a fan at it, it seems to be much better behaved!

My System: Comag SL55 receiver. Lidl 0.6 LNB. Lidl 80cm dish. Metronic DiSEqC motor. Mico STB235 Freeview box. JVC SVHS Video .Targa 160GB HDD/DVD recorder. 3 x UHF modulators. 6-way Booster/Splitter.

There's no need to splash out on a patched technomate - the SL55 patches work great. At the moment there are very few keys available, so you are SOL on any receiver.

Could be a heat problem. Mine sometimes refuses the flash updates if it's hot. I just switch it off for an hour or so beforehand to let it cool down.

Some SL55's are prone to power supply problems. There was a writeup on one of the comag forums about how to fix the power supply (if you are handy with a soldering iron).

The cable between the receiver and the LNB is probably the first thing to check.
