Shipping - Are they 'avin' a LARRRF!?

I just decided to buy the bits I need to go motorised.

Well, I'll leave it up to you all to make your minds up as to which supplier this is as I'm not naming names but..... are they kidding!?
The order was for:
1x Gibertini 1m dish
1x Gibertini Polar Mount for 80cm or 1m dish
1x Jaeger 12 inch actuator
30m heavy duty 4-core motor control cable

Needless to say, I deleted everything from the shopping cart.

It'd be cheaper to hire a van, drive there, load up and drive home again!

Judging by the fact that they list state tax, are you buying from America?? Or have you set the destination to USA? Equally it could just be a bug in the software, it might be worth contacting them and questioning this charge.

Hahaha...where is that?

Why don't you order from HM-SAT or Satshop24.de or something?

They are the best dealers and ships worldwide for much lower....

You appear to have ordered a 40cm Gibertini, you could double the shipping for a 1m.

Just out of curiosity, I have just tried to buy the same stuff (got a stock length of cable) and told it I lived in Bradford.

Well today at work, I put exactly the same stuff in the basket and hit the checkout button and for a 1m Gibbi, polar mount, 12 inch actuator and 30 metres of decent quality motor control cable the total with shipping to my door was approximately £180.

Does that seem reasonable for transport from the west country to the Bradford area. Seems okay to me but what's everyone else's opinion on this?

I mean, before, it would have been cheaper to hire a van and go fetch!

That sounds more like it. Unfortunately a combination of bulky and heavy.

Honestly. I don't know what to believe..

I just put it into my home computer and got a total including shipping of £154!

So long as it keeps coming down, I'm not too fussed though...

It is and it must have been a glitch and / or a mistake on my part. Now that the "State Tax" has been pointed out to me by Mickha, I suspect I didn't click on the sumbit button to update my address. I was sure I did but hey, it was late.

I'm getting the following now....which I'm pretty happy with:

Total Goods:112.19Shipping:22.91VAT:19.63Grand Total:154.73

Oh.

The website's just gone down before I could hit "Pay".

Hmmph.

Oh the .co.uk one works but the price is £181 instead of £154 on the .com one. Someone must have heard me......
