A reply from Channel master about why the polar mount for 1.2 & 1.8m was discontinued

Here is the email i had back from andrew corp.

Dear Sir,

From a consumer point of view it is hard to understand why products are discontinued.
The Satcom product line evolves over the years as we see the trends change.
We have decided to drop the polar mount option as the sales to not warrant the manufacturing of this unique item.
We have tried over the years to eliminate the welding from our manufacturing process. This is one of the few items in our line that still requires welding.
Due to low sales volume and the push to eliminate welding from our Smithfield North Carolina manufacturing site, we have decided to drop this from our product line.

It has been my understanding that there are a few aftermarket companies that manufacture polar mounts that fit our reflectors. These are popular in the UK, and you may inquire about such product offerings from an outside source.

My System: I use a 1.2 Gregorian dish connected to four receivers including a scopus 4.2.2 professional ird2800 and Echostar3600 and two blind scan rx's. My lnb is a quad invacom. All rx's are linked to my packard bell easy one silver laptop.

That won't please a certain Newcastle based satellite shop, he uses the 1.2 polar mount and adds an aluminium frame to accept the 1.8 dish, can't say I'd be happy with that arrangement, probably OK until it blows a gale!
Looks like the Jeager 1224 from now on then.

There is a company on Iceland that does "real" quality polarmount for the Andrew 1.8m.

It's not some cheap solution the SatelliteSuperstore and some others sell which is based on the CM 1.2 polarmount.

My System: 1.2M & 55cm Gregorian Dish`s, 1.5m Gibertini on a Jaeger 1224 H-H motor. Dreambox 7025 200gb HD, Vbox-II. SS2 Card.

It is a shame That they have stopped making the mounts. Surely they could make to order?

I did enquire about the 1.8m ploar mount with that Co Likvid, What I can remember is very pricey! And then you have to add the P & P!

But if your realy desperate you could get one.

Here is a pic of my mount so far, home made by a family member.

Ill post more pics when its complete, and dish mounted on it!
