New Channels

Hi Guys,
Each day i check on King of Sat for any new FTA channels.
I am picking up good signals from 30W to 42E.
I put in the transponder frequencies and start to scan, but the scan finsishes without registering the new channels.
I have just changed LNB to a 0.2db thinking this would help, signal strenth and quality has increased slightly.
I have an 80cm eliptical on a Moteck SG2100A and am sure everything is plumb as i get channels on all these satellites.
Basically i guess i am never going to get all channels going.
Would a bigger dish be an advantage?

Any ideas appreciated.

Well, what sort of Signal strength/Quality are you getting on various satellites? I know I can't really compare your readings to mine as it's all relative but it might give me an idea.

Also it depends which specific beams these new channels are on, on each satellite. If the new channels are on a beam that points at a different part of the world to Nottingham, you may not get anything....say if a new channel pops up on a transponder which transmits on the Eastern Beam of Turksat 42E, you won't receive it. Not without one heck of a dish!

Anyway, what sort of strengths are you getting?

Smile Signal Strength

Hi Femto!
Signals on say 16E are 80%strength and 65% quality.
26E 70% strength and 49% quality.
I have no strengths below 70% and qualitys below 43%.
As i say even weak qualitys for some stations on 5E gives a good picture.
I take on board what you are saying, so i cannot expect to get every channel, mind you once i have my Dragon CAM soon, i'll have more than enough to watch!!
Many thanks for your reply.
