Where can you get 3" poles from?

Does anyone know where I can get a 3" diameter steel pole from? I'm after a round 1.5 -2m.

Cheers

I get mine from near me as there is a farm below my house and after that is a metal steel place thare sell all types of steel when i got my pole for my 1.2 which is 3inch and 13 foot long i paid about £5.00 for it and then walk home with it through the fields and the cow's where looking at me strange ,

Just go to Yell.com the UK\\\\\\'s local search engine - search for UK businesses and type in metal or steel and see what comes up,

Or take a tape and hacksaw which you find one in a quiet place ,

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

Try a steel stockholders. Or a scaffolders.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone

Steve: I've seen in a nearby town the council using an old wheel with a pole welded on to create temporary bus stops, but it's a little busy

rd100: Blimey, I didn't think it'd be that cheap. I've seen a certain website trying to sell 2m for £60! Time to ring around, thanks for the link

mhku: All the scaffolders I rang only had 2" poles, but I'm going to try the stockholders

pole

hi i live in the north east and i got a 3'' pole 8 feet high with a 1 foot square plate welded on the bottom delivered £20, i got mine from a local workshop, before that i tried the local council and i went round the scrapyards but the thing is getting to the scrapyards just as they have been delivered otherwise its a case of '' too late mate they have all been cut up'' , but give the scrapyards a try all the same.

Try the streetlighting section they may have an old lamp column going spare that can be cut down to size.

The 'local' steel stock holder just turned out to be a front desk, and didn't hold any stock at all. They weren't interested unless I made a large order. However the local scrap yard say they'll give me a ring when they get some in.

What wall thickness/size should I be looking for? The scrappy had a pole that was too short but it also looked rather thin, like 1-2mm, is that enough or does it need to be thicker? The dish is a Channel Master 90, with either a CM polar mount or a jaeger 1224 (undecided which).

My System: Several Systems around the house, x800 graphics cards mainly used for gaming so specs arnt a problem

A Steel Fabricator will have all different sizes of steel poles and can prob make you your brackets also, if u pay him cash, will prob make it while the boss is out for a few quid. Try looking under engineering companies also.
