Best DiSEqC Motor ?

What would be your recommendation(s) for the best DiSEqC motor? Best performance (accuracy & speed), and reliability/longevity (build quality, weatherproofing etc.)? (For use with Humax receiver)

TIA.

Thanks T24.

Do you have any experience with any others e.g. Moteck SG2100, Superjack DG-120, Cryptic etc.?

Also, how long do these motors last? I have read of some showing signs of wear/play within a few months!

Would an actuator (with V-box?) be the best choice for reliability/longevity?

TIA.

DG 120 is the best but I think it's hard to get hold off,yes you can use actuator and

VBOX (more stable)otherwise I prefer H-H 100 or 120.

H-H 120 with 1.1 M Triax dish working fine.

ps-Actuator is noisy.

Good luck

I had a Moteck SG2100 but ended up exchanging it for an Aston motor after a couple of weeks. The Moteck had a will of its own and kept forgetting sat positions etc. With the Aston I have never looked back. I have heard that Stab are also very good.

My System: I bet on red. If I lose, I double the bet on red again. I continue with this until I lost everything.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

As I've said before, had no problems with the Moteck, have installed 5 so far, two with SS2s one with an Extreme, one with an Echostar 707 and one with a Hyundai HSS800ci, the USALS worked perfectly and they continue to function flawlessly.

I think that cjgall must have had a friday afternoon motor.

Thanks.

I was thinking about the Triax TD110, the aluminium version - is this a good choice?

Also, I'm in Scotland, which is apparently the windiest Country in Europe, so I'm wondering how robust all these DiSEqC motors are?

BTW, how noisy are actuators?

Merlin of the Idiot Guide

I have an Apro SG2100, I believe produced by Moetec, for about 4 months. Installation with a Xtreme was dead simple, still working fine, no adjustments required so far, touch wood !

@ SERET

Ok,in that case actuator is the best option,Triax TD 1.1 M is a very good dish, use

actuator(super jack 10")its noisy if you mount the motor,dish..on a balcony.

I wouldn't worry too much, many people have good experienced with the SG2100. It also got a good review here in the Netherlands

rolfw

I bought the SG2100 when I first started using sat. Not only did I buy a Friday afternoon motor (or was it a motor that somebody else had previously taken back to the dealer because it was broken?), I also made the mistake of using a dealer that was only interested in make as much money as possible without actually providing any service.

Oh well, live and learn. At least thanks to this board I am a bit wiser

LOL, we've all bought Friday afternoon equipment at one time or other, my own personal weekend purchases are Pioneer DVD drives. .

It appears to handle most dishes, there can be a problem if the dish mount is widely spaced, see the attached photo, if the dish mount bolts are as high as where I have marked, they can catch on the "F" connectors and cables, you may need to saw off any surplus.

well i might go for triax 88cm dish i think the 1.1m dish maybe to much for the motor,i know it says the sg2100 can take up to 1.2 dishes but i thinking it might have to work a bit harder and wear out quicker

It will take a triax 1.1, but only if it is not in an exposed position, looked at one the other week and it was showing signs of wear after the storms, but it was very exposed.

You might also consider the Raven Gemini 90cm, a very nice dish, as is the Triax of course.

Sat critics gave a very good write up on the Motek last year. I am collecting one on tuesday as my RotorSat HH100 (a clone of the Stab HH100) is showing signs of wear in less than 2 years. The last lot of gales a few weeks ago appears to have been the main culprit even though I backed the dish into the wind.

my house is in a middle of wind tunnel i think, the row of houses in front of us got demolished leaving us exposed to the elements, and as the house the made of cheap building materials i will more than likely have to put the dish on a pole in the garden, unlikely i will get a signal in the back garden as there are houses and trees in the way and if i put it in the front garden it will get damaged or nicked.house swap anyone?

The settings can be critical steffan, what are your motor settings and have you filled in the lattitude and longitude information?
