My System: Zehnder DR600 digital receiver, 90cm Amstrad dish and one MTI Blue Line 0,2db LNB.
Can't get any signal from any satellite

Hello,
I've now tried and can't get any digital signal at all. Are there any common misstakes that many beginners do? Anything other you can think of?

On the receiver, my "signal strength" always stands on 49 and the "signal quality" is between 30 and 50 (moving all the time) but those values are always displayed no matter how I point the dish or if I have the LNB connected.

To start with I want to be able to get Astra sat at 19,2 east or Hotbird at 13 east. My location is in the south of Sweden. Is there anything I should think of when I try to get those satellites (or any other satellite)?

The receiver seams to work OK and is fairly new and both of the cables and LNB are new.

Best Regards

My System: Amstrad Digibox and zone 2 dish. Technomate 1500ci+, 90cm motorised dish on a very thick pole!

I`m no expert but I would have thought the receiver should show absolutely no signal quality without an LNB attached to the dish so I would assume the receiver is the problem and has locked up?

My System: 1.2M & 55cm Gregorian Dish`s, 1.5m Gibertini on a Jaeger 1224 H-H motor. Dreambox 7025 200gb HD, Vbox-II. SS2 Card.

Have you had signal before? Is your dish on the clark belt? Or do you have the correct lnb settings in the stb?

My System: Technomate TMS-1500 CI+ "patched" receiver, 90cm p/f 36v motorised dish, Inverto C120 0.3db LNB, Moteck V-Box 2, Packard Bell 6052 XP Home computer, Toshiba A60 laptop, and lots of Russian Vodka !

I would think that the most common fault that newbies make is not setting there dish up correctly.
Don't know exactly where you live in southern Sweden but if you lived in Karlshamn (for example) you would need to set your dish to latitude 56.1 north, and longitude to 14.5 east.
You must get this right first and hopefully you will start picking up some sat's.

Don't worry to much about LNB readings untill you get a higher reading, as you can still get some form of reading even if you attached the LNB to your backside.

Finally got my digital system working but can't get all channels on one frequency...

Hello,
I finally found the error, it was the LNB. By the way, if you plan to buy sat equipment from Germany, don't buy them from Sat Service Kern. They don't reply to emails after you've bought the iteam, they don't seam to refund or take any returns and they have ignored me completely for the last couple of days.

But, to the problem, I've now borrowed a new LNB and a new digital receiver and I've also managed to point it to the sat I want (Eurobird 1). But when I choose "manual search" and write in the frequency 11390 V, the frequency where the radio channel I want to get (Yorkshire Radio) is located, I can only see 22 of 28 radio stations (and Yorkshire Radio is not among them). Do you have any idea of why I can't see and listen to all radio channels?

A list of all channels availiable at Eurobird 1 is located here: http://www.lyngsat.com/eb1.html.

Best Regards

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 5 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/13E/16E /19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

The last noble sat warrior to fly the olden flag of Analogue

The radio channels on Sky move around a fair bit, and theres now only 26 radio channels on 11390V! However, Yorkshire Radio are still on 11390V. However they are are hiring time on one of the WRN channels. Look for the channel named "On Air"

Hello,
OK, so where do I find the WRN channels? And where can I find a more updated list than the one at Lyngsat or is it the most updated? By the way, do you know why it's called "on air"?

Best Regards

Oskare,

Glad you got your system up and running, but in future can you please continue using the the same thread and not start a new one for the same subject as it makes it easier for us poor souls who try to answer your questions.

Have joined the two threads together.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

Just done a scan on 28.2 and WRN comes up at 11390 V 27500 2/3, as Analoguesat says, Yorkshire Radio comes up on the same Frequency as "On Air".

Hello again,
Is the signal quality more important than the singal strength, is it the same or is the strenth more important than the quality?

Best Regards

Once you get past the receiver threshold, the strength is not as important as signal quality, until you get some bad weather, then there is the possibility of signal dropout if the strength is borderline.
