quad monoblock lnb - what to watch out for? (newbie)

hi guys,

am upgrading my satellite system, and have come to the conclusion that I need to get a quad monoblock lnb, in order to be able to use two receivers, each with a twin tuner. right now i just have one digicorder s2 (http://www.technisat.com/?site=produ...id=1564&reload), but at some point in the future i will have another receiver as well.

I'd like to be able to receive the Cyfra package http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/cyfra.html (Hot Bird 7A at 13.0°E) as well as ORF Digital http://www.lyngsat.com/astra1h.html (Astra 1H at 19.2°E).

What are the things I should watch out for when buying? I know I need to check what type of holding mechanism there is for the LNB (ie how exactly the piece of metal that holds the LNB is made), whether the LNB is for a specific size antenna, as well as whether the LNB fulfills DiSEqC1.2. i've also heard that different LNB's require different levels of power from the receiver? is that so? i am a complete newbie, so wouldn't know...
what about the frequencies? are they all pretty standard?

what else do i have to watch out for, and what are the most common mistakes people make when buying/installing?

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

Have a look at one of our advertisers' sites DVB-Shop24 there are a couple on there. You don't need to worry too much about power requirements, these LNBs are designed to fall well within the capabilities of the average receiver.

I could:

(I never even knew that they made quad-output monoblocks myself!!! )

Yep, just use my link, click on LNBs on the left, then monobloc.

right - just 'one' (hehe - don't think it will end at that ) more question - what is the difference between a quad LNB and a quad monoblock LNB?

one more thing- the LNB's there unfortunately only have two outputs, not four as I would like: two for each sat receiver (each sat receiver has two LNB connectors, since each one has a twin tuner). i've found these here...:

The picture is probably just for an examlpe of what the LNB will look like as they have no stock image of the actual LNB...

As for the difference between a quad and a quad-monoblock, the quad is for a single satellite (currently mainly used for things like sky+), the monoblock is for two satellites...
