Help, 2 receivers 1 motorised dish.

Sorry for flying in with this on my first post but I can’t find an answer and it’s driving me mad.

I’m about to set up a new dreambox and want to connect it to the same motorised dish as dreambox number 1. The 2nd dreambox will be replacing a digibox and I thought instead of just connecting it to my mini dish ( as the digibox is ) I would like to connect it to the motorised dish to get full value out of dreambox number 2.

One thing I know for sure is I’ll need a dual LNB but what I can’t figure out is how to connect 2 coax leads in to 1 motor. I thought the answer was going to be some sort of switch but this doesn’t seem possible.

Can this be done?

Hi, welcome to the forum.

If you're driving your motor with Dreambox 1 using Disecq control, you can't connect Dreambox 2 to the motor as well if you intend to use it in the same fashion.

A second cable will be needed to Dreambox 2 if you use a Dual LNB.

Thanks for the reply.

So the only way to watch anything other than 28e through the mini dish is to attach it to a dual LNB on the motorised system and bypass the motor. This way I would need to select the required satellite on the main before I could watch it on the second?

Would a switch work with one feed coming from the mini dish and one feed from a second ( or dual ) LNB?

How you connect the boxes up depends on where they are relative to one another.

If in the same room, loop the LNB out of Digibox1 to Digibox2 LNB in.This will allow it to access the same satellite/polarisation that box 1 is using.

This leaves the other port of the dual LNB for connecting to one input of an A/B switch, the other coming from your minidish.

This is far from satisfactory however, as your digibox, when switched to the other dish will only be able to watch channels with a symbol rate of 22000 or 27500 due to the limitations of the digibox. And you need to have the switch connected to the minidish for updating your digibox if you are not pointing to 28E with the other dish.

The second dreambox will be replacing a multiroom digibox in a bedroom, so the digibox won’t be used. I’ll take a link from the quad LNB mini dish and link it to an A/B switch, then I’ll do the same with the motorised dish coming from a dual LNB. The link will then go directly in to the dreambox in the bedroom. So I will only be able to watch 28e and whatever satellite the motorised dish is pointing at. Hope that explains it ( I wish I could draw a diagram ).

Is this my only option?

And thanks for your help, it’s appreciated.
