My System: Echostar 808i USALS/DiSEqC 1.2
1 Motorised Dish, 2 Receivers

Hello

Having just fitted my first Motorised Satellite install for my mate.

(Worked perfect first time round, then stopped, changed all my allignments to discover that some of my mates work had come unloose and probably was the cause, and ended up having a mission to try and get everything back, whilst fighting against the current weather).

Anyway, we're up and running.

My mate has two receivers. Instead of looping off the one receiver, I have chose to use the LNB (as there are 4 ports) to connect both receivers independently.

Question 1: Is it best to connect the two receivers off the LNB, or loop through the 1st install? What are the pros/cons

My second question is (I gave up on USALS, which worked great first time round, and now have gone to disecq): The one receiver moves the dish to the various sats. Even though the second receiver is set up to disecq, it will only pick up channels from the satellite that the first receiver has moved to. In other words, although the 2nd receiver is set up to move the satellite it doesn't.

Question 2: Is this correct? Is there something else that should be purchased for this scenario? Or does receiver 1 have to be switched off to allow receiver 2 to move the sat. I can sort of understand a scenario where the receivers could conflict but, due to my lack of satellite experience (ask me a footy question or a question on rum and I shine ), I don't know the actual answer.

One thing I have learnt is next time get my mate to call in the experts to set up a motorised satellite like I did, instead of penny pinching
Having said that, I have enjoyed the experience, and appreciate the skill, expertise and effort the 2 guys who came in and installed mine.

Thanks for you help.

Ricky

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

Hi Ricky, welcome to the forum.

The only realistic solution is to use the extra port on the LNB for your second receiver. It means that you will not be able to control the motor with it, but it doesn't work on loopthrough either.

One of our members uses a wireless remote extender to move the dish when using his second receiver.
