Fracarro Penta Satellite Dishes

Just seen one of these on E-Bay (85cm) and they boast that they are better than a 1 metre dish.
What with the corner's missing I find this rather hard to believe, what do you think.

You don't need the corners, the biggest concentration of signal is in the center of the dish so they cut the corners and made it bigger in the center parts.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

I would be very surprised if it were better than a 1m.

My System: IDD CI24 ECONO MM Penta 1.20 Galaxy II 1.2Mtr Polar MTG yes it has been on the arc for 21 years and is still driven by a modified wiper motor from a Ford Anglia. It's like me sometimes groans but always performs

If you added the corners to the above dish you would have approx a 1m dish, by removing the corners they made the dish look smaller and perform almost like a 1m dish.

Yep

I am aware of dish theory which is why I was questioning the statement
about making it bigger in the center parts
, I do not understand what you mean that is all

Cant see how you come to that conclusion, as the overall diameter would still only be that of your average 80/90cm dish.

The hirschmannFesat 85 cm claims a slightly lower DB gain and I would be slightly more inclined to believe their figures, as the dish is far better built than the Fracarro, which looks a tad on the flimsy side, particularly the AZEL bracket.
