My System: 1.2M & 55cm Gregorian Dish`s, 1.5m Gibertini on a Jaeger 1224 H-H motor. Dreambox 7025 200gb HD, Vbox-II. SS2 Card.
What V-Box?

I am thinking of getting another V-box II, as the nextvision v-box I have, doesn`t have a 5V output to run my Gregorian dish motor.

Which is the best Vbox with 5v output to get?

My System: Sky HD, TM6800HD, Manhattan Plaza ST550 and TM1500 CI+. 1.0m dish and 36v motor, Panasonic DVD HDD recorder and Panasonic video/DVD recorder. Sony G800 HD TV stand/surround system + Sony KDL40W2000. Infinity USB, Elvis, CAS1, CAS2.

I would say this one as opposed to Moteck.

Jaeger Superjack V-Box II DiSEqC Positioner

I'm surprised you didn't see these being sold on a certain 'For Sale' section crossbones.

Not necessary if your motor uses reed switch pulsing. 5V only needed for optical switches.

I saw these advertised with 5v output, and after checking by email, I ordered one.

Surprise surprise it arrived without the 5v output. The suppliers were quite apolgetic and did try and obtain the right one, but were unable to do so.

They offered money back, but I decided to keep it as most of them have a 5v supply somewhere inside, have modded a couple in the past

If you dont want to lose guarantee or do not like messing with the innards, one of the plugtop 5v will do the job.

You need 5 connections to the Fibo motor

M1 - M2 - Ground - Pulse - 5v+

The 5v is only a few milliamps, you can run a single core taped to the main for the ground

If your using a motor with a reed switch then 5volts is not required

I wouldnt call the greg motor quality, as there known to fail. One of the biggest problems with these great dishes.

Mine did have a problem, but it was the common dry joint that they had. I have a couple spare, just in case.

Sorry for sound like a newbie, but does the gregorian motor (picture on the following thread) have the 5 volt connection?

fibo pics for olisun...

I could only see 4 connections or if I can use it with the 1224 (I am planning to install the 1224 in the summer) ?

'Gregorian' refers only to the optical principle for the dish, I think that the motor in your pics is a 'jaeger', (others may be able to identify more accurately) which I believe was used by Fibo on later production.

The origional Fibo motor with optical sensor was like attached pics.

I think you have the reed, 36v motor on your dish. Its the early version of the mount. It should work ok with the 1224.

Here`s what the other motor looks like.

EDIT:
You beat me too it john lol

Fibo motor's optical sensor

I have in the past looked into the possibility of converting the Fibo motor from 'optical' to 'reed' output pulse but never persued it.

There seems to be a bit of renewed interest in these dishes and motors at the moment, I now have three.

With the lack of suitable diseqc boxes with 5v out, I wondered if it would be of any interest to others if I found a fairly simple way of fitting a reed. I might make a bit more effort if there if it was not just a one off for myself.

I would be very interested, but wouldn`t it be easier as you have said, just to mod the vbox?

It would be easier on a one off basis, but there are a variety of different 'V-Box's and receivers out there, some are a bit nervous about modding them, there would be guarantee issues and you would have to mod any replacement box. I am always swapping boxes and dishes about ,just for fun. And then you have to run an extra wire.

I have just bought some nice shotgun RG6 + 4wire motor, but it is only 4 wire and I would have to run an extra wire myself if I modded the box, this is one of the reasons I thought about revisiting the reed switch idea. I will look into it a little, I have some ideas about an easy way, if I can get the right bits and pieces.

Used to be able to get shotgunned cable with 5core, but havn't seen any for a while.

Heh...no one bought the Fibo.

I wouldn't have either without any pictures showing it's condition.
