I do hope it's sunny this weekend...

Cos I want to rebuild my groundstand for my 1m Channel Master dish in my yard!!!

The sandblasting and repointing is done, so it should be safe to put my dish outside, well, once I get the new security light up, but the groundstand needs to be levelled up before I put my dish on it as the ground, to say the least, is as straight as a ladyboy!!!

But, in the shed (in which I found my inflateable boat!!!) there's what looks like some old stone rooftile bits, so I can use those to make a nice level(ish) platform of somesort...

Sod's law it would be throwing it down with rain since I wanted to actually put my dish up outside!!!

I'm just glad I live on a valley though as the recent rain has flooded the nearby town of Earby!!!

I have put my dish together indoors though, just to make sure I remember how to do it...

I'm away in plymouth next week so i'm also hoping for good weather.

If it's raining it shouldn't stop you making the hole though so you'll atleast get a few things done. Just catch it inbetween the showers.

Depends on the ground mount tbh, but normally cement or as i used postmix. Drill some holes into the postmix for the huge bolts to bolt the stand solid. (SDS drill is required though)

YMMV though

I have a patio stand...

No digging required, just have to work out how to build a level platform for it to stand on...

Good luck!!!

My ground stand came with 8x patio paving slabs to weight it down, might get some extra weight on it (sand bags or gravel bags) seeing how the weather's becoming more and more volatile and I don't want to lose my £45 bargain!!!

Well there's been alsorts going on out in my yard (repointing, sandblasting, prev. occupant's rubbish being cleared, and of course the bloomin' horrible weather!!!), but it's not looking good weatherwise, I really don't want my cables getting wet (have CT100 cable and I guess cheapo RG6, formerly NTL cable, foam-filled cable too) and I need to make a level footing for the stand which might need to involve cement (handy the repointers left a bag of cement powder, just need some sand!!!) which in heavy rain would probably wash away!!!

Spirit level's ok, well, a minidish clip-on at least, but unless the leylandii come down, no wood to spare, but there is a load of old roof tile stones in the shed which I could use though as they're that old they're onion skinned (as in peeling apart in layers)...

isn't there any adjustment on the patio mount at all mate?

As long as the ground is reasonably flat, you then adjust the patio/mount.

What about the BT phonelines that the trees have grown up through???

I ain't paying the fine for damaging them!!!

My dish won't be motorised, looks too bloody complicated to on the back of the dish, it does have fine AZ/EL adjustment bolts though...

You know, yesterday I sat my BSB minidish next to it and looked at it and thought to myself:

"Hmm, an all-Channel Master Fibo-type dish..."

I wonder......
