My System: 1M Gibertini Dish, 3 Quad Alps LNBs receiving 13E, 16E & 19.2E tied in with Minidish on 28.2E. 3 Dreamboxes 7020S FWP 6 Gemini 2.2 & 2.5. Dragon CAM 4.1, CAS2.

Well, I was testing my box with the dodgy tuner one final time before preparing to sell it, and I may have finally stumbled onto the problem.

Initially, it looked the same, wouldn't lock onto any transponders to do a scan. Gave everything the customary wiggle etc no joy. Starting to unplug everything and give up when I noticed it locking on a signal. It seems the LNB cable input connector on the dreambox side has some fault. If I screw a cable all the way in it wont work, I have to back it out quite a bit, and sometimes hold it down a smidge, and it works fine. Crazy stuff. There maybe is a broken old bit of coax in there maybe, a short somewhere or something, but at least I have finally nailed this down and maybe see about doing something to it. Unfortunately this is a little too late for me as after 2 and 1/2 years of sat fun, I'm moving out of this game! Too much hard work, these faults really did my head in!

a tiny F type connector has made you give in? duuuuuuddde! don't let t get to you, i guess you got sick of taking bets when the 8000 release date is?

hahaha, well i hope you manage to turn yourself back around and get into it again, you will be crawling back once we tell you all the stuff boxes can do in a few years dude!!

Wasn't just the connector, but that turned out to be the catalyst. Running 3 boxes in the setup I had also took up a spare PC and alot of wiring, plus the lure of alternatives became too strong! I have been waiting like alot of others for the 8000, but it just went on and on, and the price now anyway, would be too much.

I'll keep my eye on it for a year or so, and see what happens. No doubt in the future I'll come back to it.
