Ummm its a good question, i would like to think that it was but i doubt it.

although the N95 is nifty phone... probably the best there is to be honest, but does it have the processing power to play the stream??

difinately worth looking into though.

i've commented on this before, people keep telling me they watch streams through mobile, it must be possible with VLC or something

well sharkadder,

the best phones for this would be smartphones... based on the windows platform or Nokia N series phones based on the nokia N-Gage ie the N73 and N95

the phone must support 3rd party media players and hav the processing power to play encoded files, this rules out old phones.

software is the key here.... like when trying to do anything on either Computers, Dreamboxes or indeed Mobile phones.

this is were i am at the moment... trying different Media players, such as the ones listed here

2 things to add

1st, if this does work, then it must be remembered that it will be streaming over GPRS, meaning you will be paying for it!
idealy a WAP bundle would be best.

2nd, i feel that were this could fail is the speed of GPRS and the ability of the phones memory and CPU

if anyone would like to try, install a media player open wap and browse to the enigma on the DB then play the stream.

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

I've not tried but I'd have thought the best phones would be the ones running WM5 or WM6 (which mine does).

You want to stream from your Dreambox to your phone using wifi (LAN) or using Tinterweb?

well obviously using Lan and WIFI would work best, but the most useless??

why sit your own house and watch the footy on a 2" screen when your in the same room as a 42" plasma?

well that the situation i find myself in.

the only use for this would be over GPRS, meaning you can watch anywhere.

well that, and also doing it just to prove you can LOL

PS

this thread is interesting (here)

well the iphone has both gprs and wifi, obviously wifi is better for this sort of thing as it is faster.

Most pubs now, especially the big ones offer free wifi, if they don't have the match on i would still be able to watch it.

I've seen some mobiles with a screen maybe 3x2 inch or slightly bigger but them nokia's you speak on sound interesting.

When a mate of mine last went into a phone shop the guy told him theres a new samsung coming out which will handle everything, i like samsung phones and always have done so i may hang on abit.

But essentially what i'm looking for is a phone that will allow third party media players and will allow me to stream from the gprs or wap, i persume all phones would handle this if 3rd party media players could be installed.

I tried accessing my web interface from my mobile, the login comes up, i sign in and it says file too large, maybe it's because i currently have a samsung e720 which is about 3-4 year old now.

I recon from what you lot say is something like an iphone would be ideal or that nokia you mentioned, at least i have some sort of idea about what i'm looking for now.

i can log into the dreambox enigma from my mobile.... i can move dish and change channels etc... i can even start and stop recordings.

but there is no option for streaming.... because the enigma lods up and a mobile version...(mobile or PDA version) it knows im accessing with a mobile

its like a cut down version of the PC version.

i have media players both nokia and 3rd party that handle streaming.... just fell at the last hurdle.

My System: 1M Gibertini Dish, 3 Quad Alps LNBs receiving 13E, 16E & 19.2E tied in with Minidish on 28.2E. 3 Dreamboxes 7020S FWP 6 Gemini 2.2 & 2.5. Dragon CAM 4.1, CAS2.

i have an iphone, and currently it wouldn't be able to do it. quicktime and other similarly supported types only, but maybe soon. as for the n95, if you goto ustream.tv can you watch any of those streams? if so, then that would be the easiest way to get this working.
