Is my card reader working?

Hi

Just got a DM500s with Nabilosat 0.8 & CCcam 2.0.9 & the box seems to work ok except my official Sky card. When I put my yellow house FTV Sky UK card in the slot nothing happens & Channel Five doesn't work. Do I need to modify a config file?
Also, is there a way to see if the card reader is actually working (I don't have any other cards)?

Cheers
Chris

Put your card in schip down, then if you have the DB connected to your router put this address into your browser

_http://192.168.0.10:16001/

where _http://192.168.0.10 is the exact IP address of your DB on the network

Hi Analoguesat,
I just get "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.0.24:16001"
(http://192.168.0.24 alone loads the web interface ok)

So what does this mean?

check to see that in your blue panel the cams installed is on cccam_2.0.9 and not common interface. This might be why you cannot connect via ip as mention by Analoguesat

cheers

try adding in your cccam.cfg these 2 lines

TELNETINFO LISTEN PORT : 16000
WEBINFO LISTEN PORT : 16001

(the cccam.cfg can be found in var/etc/ccam.cfg ftp or use tuxcom)

then restart your cam. After that go and type into your browser _http//dm_ip:60001/_

Don't use internet explorer but rather firefox instead. (There have been some issues with IE + dm)

If it displays cccam server go to the entitlements to see if cccam is working with the card.

generally you looking to see for the line that tells you its valid

e.g
valid from 19-5-2008 untill 19-11-2009

I have have also notice you posted in the DM800 post about the problem. The dm800 has problems with the sky card using cccam2.0.9 which hopefully will be resolved in a newer version.

good luck

Under Entitlements I get:
card reader /dev/sci0
no or unknown card inserted

Does the fact that I can connect mean the card reader is actually working?

The ftv card may have timed out. Leave the box on C5 overnight for a few days and it should come back to life eventually.

Don't think it has timed out cos the card still works perfectly in my Digibox.

you can try 3 things mentioned below to get the card working,

Check to see if the cccam is reading the card via telnet. It will give you information log of the cam.

Steps into restarting cam in debug is

1. find out if the process is called CCcam_2.0.9 or CCcam (usually Dm800)
to do this ftp to dm and look at folder var/bin.
2. Open telnet and connect to dm500 -> enter character o and then type in ip of box.
3. Enter 'root' without quotes and the password
4.type in and enter -> cd /var/bin
5.now type -> killall CCam_2.0.9 *remember might be CCcam step(1)
6.finally type-> CCcam_2.0.9 -d

Check if reader finds the card, post result.
if your cam doesn't start for some reason just restart it from the blue panel
(then do step 6 again to give log)

Another thing you can do is add this to the cccam.cfg file

READER PATH : /dev/sci0
CAMKEY: /dev/sci0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
CAMDATA: /dev/sci0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

or install the latest newcs (on dm800 don't know for other dreambox's, older versions can burn your card but the 1.6 version they fixed this)
