SKY UK NDS - All channels work except Sky Sports/Movies

Hi All,

This isn't strictly a Dreambox question - I use NewCS/open-sasc-ng (which used vdr-sc to decrypt) on Fedora with a Skystar 2 Card.

All the channels decrypt as expected except for the following:
Sky Sports 1/2/3
Sky Movies *

I have a legitimate Sky card with the Sports/Movies packages included. NewCS seems to pick up the card fine, finding two keys - one of type 0 and one of type 1. Channels such as Dave, Alibi, Sky One and MTV One decrypt fine.

I can't log onto the box now to paste the output from open-sasc-ng but, there aren't any errors. It finds the 0961 chain from NewCS but then says there's no valid key found.

Are Sports/Movies handled differently on the card to other channels? My kids/music packages work fine.

I'm still rattling my brains about this ... it's *so* close to working. NewCS seems to load the card fine - is it possible that NewCS can't see all the keys on the card?

Does anyone know whether Sky Movies are actually broadcast on channels other than those marked as Sky Movies? A bit like STREAM-* for BBC's Interactive Service.

Everything else works fine. sasc-ng simply complains that the keys aren't available from NewCS. They should be, because the same card decodes Movies/Sport on my Sky Digibox.

If anyone has a similar setup working or has any ideas please, please reply or PM me.

Fixed: had the wrong boxid in newcs.xml - newcs can autodetect the right one.

I have same problem. What did you use for boxid parameter to get it work? Did you delete the parameter from config?

Having trouble getting VDR-SC reading my NDS card. Does it need some sort of key?

Also, what's the story with the box id (which config file does it go into)??

Guys , using the latest NewCS with the default config. You do not need to enter or change anything for the box id.


pid0x11, I've never heard of VDR-SC mate. If you're using a Dreambox anything other than a DM800 or DM8000 then you need to be using CCcam. If you're using a DM800 then you should use either NewCS with the card directly in the DM800, or use CCcam with the card in a Smargo smartreader+

Using either of these methods, you do not need a box id.
If you have a NDS3 card , be very carefull of the clock speed, do not exceed 3.57mhz or you'll cook it !

You are unlikley to get a reply - most of the members observe the authors request regarding not discussing gbox on public forums.

To be honest gbox is a flaky pile of rubbish which is well past its best - the newer cams are far superior, so think about switching to a better cam.

Hi, I'm experiencing the same issue. I have newcs166 and cccam211 (combined package) on Darkstar 2. All channels working fine except Movies and Sports. I'm using a New slyuk white card. Using standard newcs.xml with changes to:

<emm>10</emm>
<ecm>10</ecm>

And name and password. No other changes. cccam.cfg looks like this:

And I'm sharing over cccam fine to another box in my house. But card still won't decode movies or sports channels. What am I missing?

Any help much appreciated, I'm new to this but learning fast. If you can just point me int he right direction. Have googled and gone through most available forums for last few days but can't see clear solution.

sharepappa - Have you checked your entitlements to see if they are updated? otherwise you will not get certain channels

Once you configure newcs to work with card then you worry about client (cccam) but first you make sure newcs read all your entitlements

I'm no expert yet but in my experience you need to ensure you have the correct boxkey in Newcs. The boxkey is needed to clear the movies and sports only. I would start by checking that

I got the boxkey by starting cccam manually (cccam -dv) and used this but it still isn't working. Should I use the serials from menu and box to get it (using B16Mcc's boxkey generator) or is this one read out by cccam correct? The card has already been paired with a sky box and Im told is working. (I don't have the box here though but can get it, i was doing this for a friend so it is in his house).

Checked entitlements in contol panel and they seem fine also (date wise):

I don't know what these mean but I'm guessing from reading other posts that I must put my card back in the slybox before this date to get it updated.

And he tripple posts... I'll probably get banned for this but anyway. I got it working, just wanted to say thanks for your help guys. The problem was Cccam -dv was posting an incorrect Boxkey. Had my friend read serial from the bottom of the box the card was initialized in and put it into B16Mcc's generator. Put the hex into Newcs. Hope this helps someone else; main thing to remember: Cccam.211 -dv does not post correct Hex for boxkey. Thanks again.
