My System: dreambox 500
lost dreambox 500s x card reader

Sorry all if this question has been asked before but can’t seem to find pervious posts to this question.
My bloody power board that my dream box 500s was plugged into melted. The dam thing fried my external card reader [now replaced] I had attached to the dream box, it had also caused damage to the software pli jade I was running on the db. I used dream up to flash/erase and reinstalled P.L.I Jade
But I can’t seem to get the [new] external card reader to work.
I’m must be missing a command line in my cccam. Config file.
Can some one please tell me if I can just put in the command line needed & do I have to edit another file? When I go into soft cam set up in card server it has none. it did prior to burn out
Thank you in advance

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

When I go into soft cam set up in card server it has none
Has none what?

There is thisline in CCcam.cfg

# Serial reader config. Add as many as you have attached too your system
# replaces old name 'PHOENIX READER PATH', but still works.
# default is none
# optionally add readertype : phoenix,mouse,uniprog,sc8in1,smartreader+
# (when non readertype given defaults to uniprog (e.g. for mastera))
#
# SERIAL READER : <device> <type>
#
# example
#
#SERIAL READER : /dev/tts/0

Is there an option in your image to enable/ disable the port the reader is connected to?

Creator of the CCCCC - only a true wizard could come up with such a name!!

Sounds like you haven't installed usb drivers. You need to look into whatis included in the PLi image and wether you need to add drivers manually. Its not likely to be a CCcam issue.

Thank you for your kind replies, really appreciate the time and effort you go through to help other people, you make it a better world.

Sorry 4 being so vague,
Regarding When I go into soft cam set up in card server it has none. I use to have newcs. I reinstalled the software newcs. It now shows server type newcs in cccam card server, but card reader still won’t respond.
I do have the lines in you posted in my Cccam.cfg,
I can post it up but not to sure whether this is permitted,
You ask is there an option in your image to enable/ disable the port the reader is connected to?
No there is no option.
My dream box only has a serial port. no usb port
Really sorry guys to be a nuisance, thank you
