Network settings for CCcam, DYNDNS and INADYN

Hii All,

I've done a lot of reading on this excellent forum. I hope someone can help.
I am trying to set up a CCcam share.
I have set up a DYNDNS account and got INADYN on DM800 to update it if IP changes.
I have forwarded ports 21, 80 and 12000 ( TCP and UDP ) to my dreambox which is 192.168.2.6
I can ping my server.dyndns account from my home but when I ping from work computer I get ' Timed Out ' message. I assume that if I can't ping from a remote computer, then I won't be able to share my card.

There are a number of settings in my DYNDNS account which I'm not sure of.
Wildcard: Create wildcard alias for "*.host.domain.tld" Should this be ticked?

Service Type:
Host with IP address
WebHop Redirect
Offline Hostname
Which one of these should I go for?

I'm using the following:
DM800HD
GEMINI
CCcam

Thanks,
Tom.

A lot of the routers/modems ISPs provide wont respond to a ping from anywhere on the internet, only from your local lan. This is just for security and wont effect card sharing. My own is like this.

If pinging your dydns host name at home responds, then you know that its working.

Pining it at work should at least resolve to the right IP address, but without replying. You should see something like....
Code:
Pinging yourhost.dydns.net [84.68.1.*] with 32 bytes of data:
Seeing as you are forwarding port 80 to your dreambox, typing your dydns address into a browser at work should load up your dreambox web interface.

I hope you changed your default dreambox password

Hi Tom,

Sorry, I can't help with the CCcam sharing but to check port 80, just use Firefox to log-in to the Enigma Web Interface (Webif).

To do that just enter your DynDNS in the Address bar in Firefox.
eg: _http://dreamdns.homelinux.net
Press Enter or Click GO and you should get the Enigma Login.
User Name: root
Password: hopefully you changed it from 'dreambox' to something more secure!

Now you should see the Webif (and you can try Audio streaming from here but you will need VLC on your PC and may need my vlcplsed script/batch file to make it work!)

To check port 21 use your ftp tool (I use FlashFXP in Windoze and gFTP in Linux), again with your DynDNS instead of the LAN IP which you use when at home (User Name & Password same as Webif). You can use the old version of WSFTP95 in Windoze if you do not have an ftp tool already. Try sending files to/from the Dreambox.

Although I know nothing about sharing, CCcam has an http info page accessible through port 16001 so you may need to port forward that as well but I'm in no way sure about that. To access that you would put: _http://dreamdns.homelinux.net:16001
in the Firefox Address bar.

Best wishes, John.

Hi,

Thanks all for your quick replies and advice.
I can access my DM800 webif from work using my DYNDNS account even though I can't ping it.
When I do access the DM webif it doesn't ask for a password.
It just goes straight to it.
How do I make it ask for a password and what is the easiest way to change my DM password.

Many regards,
Tom.

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

To be prompted for a username/ password when accessin WebIF, tick this option:

menu > setup > expert setup > http authentication (WebIf)

You can also set a webIF password for CCcam web interface in cccam.cfg

Password change:

blue panel > extras/ settings > password

Hi MHKU,

I've changed root password but can't find how to change webif to ask for one.
It's not in:
menu > setup > expert setup > http authentication

Hi Tom,

Are you sure you have scrolled down far enough?
It's not visible when you first select that option, you have to press the down arrow until you get to the next page.

However, as you have an 800 (Enigma2) and I have a 7000 (Enigma1) they may well be different.

Best wishes, John.

Hi,

I've scrolled down right to the bottom but it's not there.
I've looked through other menus too but still can't find it.
I'll look again in case I've missed it.

Tom.
