Wink CCcam 2.1.0 & NDS 2/3 Cards

Hi guys, with the release of CCcam 2.1.0 and all the associated responses, information is getting very fragmented. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread that at least attempts to keep all this information in one place.

Firstly, using the march 10th driver update it's now possible to read NDS2 sly UK cards directly in CCcam. Here's the driver update. Thanks to Sonic1 for that link.

I've tested that myself and it does work, however, my DM800 runs quite hot, and having the card in the internal reader the heat is transferred but I think this is ambient heat and not heat created by over cooking the actual chip on the card.

Now, with the release of CCcam 2.1.0 there's news that the internal reader also now reads NDS3. However, there's one thing I'm a little concerned about. I read that the NDS3 cards operates at 3.3v and the internal reader of all dreamboxes is 5v. I would be very careful with this.

There is also news that NDS3 works with CCcam 2.1.0 very well using the smargo smartreader. This supports the theory of the voltage being correct as the smargo does operate at 3.3v.

Here's a config to use the smargo , I would be careful with clock speed too.

Code:
SERVER LISTEN PORT : 12000
SERIAL READER : /dev/usb/tts/0 smartreader+
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/usb/tts/0 3690000

# Smargo Supports 3.20, 3.43, 3.69, 4.00, 4.36, 4.80, 5.34, 6.00, 6.86, 8.00, 9.61, 12.0 and 16.0 MHz
Don't forget to enable FTDSIO module in Gemini image, or install drivers in blachhole images.

With many users already using NDS3 on Sly IT and the rumours of card change for the UK, lets get a thread together to make sure we can all get what we want. Lets use this thread to report our findings and get a concrete and safe method of using NDS2/3.

Wink NDS3 Smargo CCcam 2.1.0

More from Me. This morning I ran my Sly IT NDS3 card in the smargo using CCcam 2.1.0. My card is a 0002 'K' type.

Early indications are very good. I ran the card very slowly using the following line in CCcam.cfg.

Code:
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY : /dev/usb/tts/0 3430000
I have yet to monitor CCcam in debug mode via telnet but what I can see so far is good. From inserting the card into the smargo it cleared a channel within a couple of seconds. My local ECM time was steady at 0.175 , so thats good. The temperature of the card was quite normal with no excessive heat to worry about, absolutley no signs of burn, although the test so far has totalled only about 15 minutes.

This test was simply to run the card for my own local use. I will now expand the test to share it and perhaps increase clock speed slowly. I'll report back further findings. At this time I have no need nor interest in trying the card in the internal reader. I would recommend against it for the price of a smargo.

OK guys, more testing. I've put my Sly UK NDS2 in the internal reader and now got my Sly IT NDS3 in the smargo. Both online using my usual setup. Here's what CCcam reports in debug.

Code:
22:12:54.528 CCcam: nds card found
22:12:55.327 CCcam: nds: using boxkey xxxxxxxxx
22:12:57.240 CCcam: card added to broker with caid 961
So thats my Sly UK in the internal. No clock speed set at the moment, so obviously using default.

Code:
22:12:58.436 CCcam: /dev/usb/tts/0 configured clock frequency: 3430000 Hz
22:12:58.807 CCcam: nds card found(new type)
22:12:59.021 CCcam: nds: using boxkey xxxxxxxxx
22:12:59.336 CCcam: card added to broker with caid 93b
And thats my Sly IT in the smargo setup with a slow clock speed.

Whilst watching Sly Sport 1 Italy I get this.

Code:
22:31:52.439 CCcam: local ecm -> card /dev/usb/tts/0 0x93b(0x000) sid 0x2aaa
22:31:52.613 CCcam: local ecm <- card /dev/usb/tts/0 ok
22:31:52.618 CCcam: cam[0] ecm odd ok caid:0x93b id:0x0 pid:0x6a8 Unknown (took 0.1791 seconds)
So all in all some pretty standard info there, but the point is, it all works very nice. I still don't like the temperature of the Sly UK card in the internal reader , but I'm happy it's ambient passed from the box. As for the NDS3 card in the smargo its a nice normal temperature, just slightly warm to touch. Certainly not hot !

So far I've noticed a couple of peers hit it, its seems just fine.
Hope this helps guys.. Big up to the CCcam Team Great work !

Hi again guys. One more thing... I got another Sly IT card this morning, this time a 'C' type card.

Tested same, all working just fine.

Anyone wondering what the K and C are, its just the letter written to the right of the actual chip, no idea what it means but its good to know both working the same using this method.
See picture.

goro4111, I have no access to that card, sorry.

Question VIASAT NDS3 Nordic

I hope cccam developers are reading this:-)

We have some serious issues with NEW VIASAT NDS3 Scandinavia:-(

I have tried to add boxkey to cccam.cfg, card is not initialised:-(

Code:
Original boxid consists of 11 digits:

Ex. 02345678921

Now first and last digit are removed:
234567892

Converted into HEX:
DFB38D4

Because 8 digits are needed, I add a ZERO in front:
0D FB 38 D4

Now I add this as boxkey into cccam.cfg
I have tested the new card in:

Debian Server with Smartreader+ (cccam 2.1.0)
DM7020
DM800
Newcs
G**x

I have an older Viasat Card working fine in Debian Server with Smartreader+, but not NEW CARD:-(

The chip also seems to be a little more thick on the NEW card?

We are quite many who needs a working solution, please....

Does anyone have knowledge about upcomming release of CCcam, that supports NDS3 Scandinavia, and maybe even a target date of release?

I haven't heard of any any new release of CCcam, that's why I asked the question above;-)

However I really need some feedback on how to try to get that Viasat NDS3 Card Initiated.

I have already burned one card, attempting with Newcs + CCcam!

Where to start, and what speed is considered as safe?

I will try to make it work in smartreaders+ (blue one) in a debian lenny Server. I would really appreciate any effort to help get this card working...

You are at the hands of the gods mate. As far as I know , the developers of CCcam are not public at all ! No one talks about them, and they don't talk about it. (Sounds like Fight Club, lol).

Just hope its on their list.

My System: DM7000s

I received my new white Sky card last week.
I'm having problems getting it to work on CCcam 2.1.0 in a server with a SMARGO reader.

The card is recognized allright :

09:06:16.790 CCcam: ================================================== ====================
09:06:16.791 CCcam: starting CCcam 2.1.0 compiled on Mar 19 2009@23:46:14
09:06:16.791 CCcam: ================================================== ====================
09:06:16.791 CCcam: online using nodeId d8e94b71428c7475
09:06:16.792 CCcam: create 1 cam device(s)
09:06:17.177 CCcam: /dev/ttyUSB0 configured clock frequency: 3430000 Hz
09:06:17.180 CCcam: calculated EGT: 53 us
09:06:17.194 CCcam: nds card found(new type)
09:06:17.454 CCcam: nds: using boxkey xxxxxxxx
09:06:18.126 CCcam: card added to broker with caid 963
But the card's entitlements are not shown in CCcaminfo :

card reader /dev/ttyUSB0

handled 3(0) ecms and 0(0) emms
Nds card xxxxxxxx

Entitlement info
Also the serialnumber of the card (see above : xxxxxxx) listed on the Entitlements page of CCcamInfo does not match the card's actual serialnumber.
Since this is my first NDS card, maybe someone can explain the serialnumber in CCcaminfo ?

This is what happens when the card is faced with ECM :

09:10:02.710 CCcam: local ecm -> card /dev/ttyUSB0 0x963(0x000) sid 0x1261
09:10:03.259 CCcam: local ecm <- card /dev/ttyUSB0 error
09:10:03.259 CCcam: client johndoe ecm request for handler 0x64 0x963(0x0) sid 0x1261 failed (took 0.5495 seconds)
I've attached a picture of my card (yes the last 5 numbers are photoshopped :-))

One question hopefully someone can answer : How exactly does one create the HEX BOXKEY for use in CCcam.cfg ?

Let's say my serialnumber of my Sky box is : 0289123121

Cheers,

B

OK, to get the box key from that serial, remove the first and last digit:
28912312

Then use windows calculator (Start -> Run -> Type "calc" & press enter). Then go to "View" & choose "Scientific". Then convert it to hex by typing the number, and then choosing "Hex" from the options:
1B92AB8

Because 8 digits are needed, add a ZERO in front:
01 B9 2A B8

This should give you your box key...

Let us know if this works, and if you need some testing help, then let me know

Thx lovelldr !
It turned out I correctly calculated my boxkey (just needed confirmation)

In CCcam2.1.0 the card is read, but the entitlements are not listed.

I tried the card in NewCS. In this CAM the entitlements are read. I can even connect a CCcam client to NewCS, but the picture freezes every 5-6 seconds.

Will post here, if I have any updates.

Cheers,

B
