My System: sky plus box
dreambox dm600 pvr

hi

after several posts and alot of infomation i think i have decided to purchase the dreambox dm600 pvr i just have a couple of questions please.

im told i can record 1 channel and watch another on this box as long as they are on the same transponder. does this mean as long as they are coming from the same satellite? i.e to a newbie like me does this mean i could record sly1 while watching sly movies .

does the box come with a harddrive or do i buy it as an extra.

what should i expect to pay for this box.

and last but not least i have flashed an eagle box before
would this be the same guide i would use to flash the dm600 as not sure if its a different process for the 2 diffferent boxes or teh same.

once again thanks to all for any and all help

My System: Dreambox 7020si, Technomate TM600, Technomate TM9100 Fracarro Penta 85 Dish, Televes 0.6dB Quad lnb, TM SG2200 motor. 60cm Channel Master BSB dish on 28e, Mti Blueline 0.2db Twin Lnb. Rover ST-4 Meter Cyfra+ Subscription

Flashing is the same as the 500 if you use Dreamup but you can use the web interface which is a lot quicker

You can only record the same channel as you are watching on the DM600PVR.

The box doesn't come with a hard drive, you have to buy one and fit it. I got a 60gb HDD for mine off Ebay, Brand new for about £25

Expect to pay round the £210 mark for a genuine box to round £130 for a clone

You can only watch another channel that's on the same transponder. This does NOT mean the same satellite. Each satellite has several transponders, each transponder carries a number of channels. Expect to see anywhere between 1 and 20 channels on any given transponder.

For example, Recording sly sports 1, you cannot watch Sky one, or movies. As they are on a different transponder.

You cannot record another channel at the same time on the 600, it doesn't work like that

If you try to change channel after recording has commenced, even one on the same transponder it will stop the recording before it changes channel after warning you of the fact.

If you decide to continue the recording it doesn't switch over

You can, I've seen the warning you are talking about. The way around it is to go to
Blue Panel -> Camd Setup -> All cams and enable the 'Can handle two services' option.

Its slightly different in the nabilosat images, I cant remember how to do it there, but it can be done.

At least you get to watch some other channels while recording. Its handy if there is something you want to watch on BBC1 and BBC2 at the same time.

Each of my boxes has its own independent connection to a quad lnb.

I also have a single dish on 30w so i can record something off TV Cabo while watching something off Sky on another receiver .

Yes. It works.
With Dreambox 7000S and Gemini image
Blue Button > Camd Setup > all Camd's
Check the boxes of
- Can handle two services
- Multichannel mode

When you record one channel, press the bottom cursor on the remote and it will show you all the channels on the same transponders that can be selected.

The output is for the second channel, not the one that is being recorded, which can be useful in order to record it using a DVD recorder.

Which transponder are you trying to test?
Which CAM are you using?
Common Interface or emulation like CCcam?
Try with CCcam, then restart the box and see what happens.

I would suggest to try it on FTA channels first. It worked for me.

Any idea if it is possible to do this without having to record a channel first with Dreambox?
The reason I am asking is that I usually record with an external DVR (not the internal HDD), but if I try to view another channel, the recorded channel will change.

Not that I know of HB,

I've been wondering myself how I would go about watching a VLC stream on the PC while the missus watches whatever rubbish she wants on the Dreambox/TV (Same transponder of course).
