Hi i am running a linux server with newcs and cccam sky new card in omnikey reader can i add mgcamd to my dreambox 7025 and read it with newcs in my linux server i want to try to update my card in dreambox i hear it,s possible in mgcamd

There are reports that it is possible but AFAIK evidence has yet to be provided, there are a number of threads on the forum where entitlements have already or are just abut to run out so don't rely on any information being accurate....The whole scene will change anyhow when sky switch off the old encryption on the new card system, then there will be some moaning

Thanx for a great thread (used several hours to read through it

I'm just about to order a sky subscription and have some quick questions:

1. Can you confirm that all sly channels are working with the new white card, including all HD channels (Sports HD etc)?

2. Do I need a Sky HD tuner to first initialize the card, or can I just have a normal decoder to activate the card?

3. Have anyone tried to run the omnikey reader in opensuse 11.1 will it work, or do I have to install Ubuntu?

Smargo works for me with a 963 White card

You cannot run this card in a smargo.
The user and pass in your N line are set in the newcs.xml.
You do not need an F line in CCcam.cfg

I haved confirmed and so have others, eariler in this thread that MGCamd does indeed update the card. I can't see how the end of 0961 will effect this in anyway. There is ofcourse the threat that UK will follow IT and change the encryption data word length. Hopefully IT will be fixed before it hits the UK.

Yes you can do this. Same setup as mine and have sucessfully updated. Just create a new user in the newcs management console via web browser and allow AU for this user. Put the corresponding data in your newcamd.list and a couple of small changes in the Mgcam.cfg and thats it. B16MCC has a config generator that will do everything for you, that you can download.

I can confirm that it works and updates. I am running newcs with omniflex card reader, in an Ubuntu linux server and a Dm8000 with mgcamd 1.3d. My entitlements have just updated from 18.11.2009 to 20.12.2009 and it is rock steady !

Hi just a update i have sucessfully updated my entitlements using mgcamd 1.31 dreambox newcs 167 linux server entitlement were due to expire 10.11.09 have updated to 20.12.09

mgcamd works also fine for me for updating the blue card in NewCS.

Curious me wanted to know why entitlement updates from mgcamd are ok, but from CCcam are not, so I had a closer look at newcs's logs. When mcgamd forwards an EMM to newcs, it adds a 7 byte header, which newcs will strip and send the remainder to the card. With CCcam, it's a different story: only 4 bytes header (card address is missing), and the EMM to the card gets totally garbled and has a wrong length. These EMMs get usually rejected, because EMMs are signature protected. Even worse: EMM processing by the card takes eccessively long (sometimes more than one second, compared to about 100 millesecs on correct EMMs) and in one instance, a malformed EMM caused the card to lock up: I had to remove and reinsert the card and restart newcs - reader reset wouln't do the trick. I guess this could have also easily fried the card if I had been less lucky. Also a good thing I tested this on a FTV card rather than my regular subscription card.

So I would advise if you are running CCcam as a client to newcs to make sure to have EMM forwarding to newcs disabled.

DM8000, Inside reader, Nabilosat Enigma2 Black Hole V0.11 with NewCS 1.67 + CCcam 2.1.2.
After some problems, now I see all the Packages (Premium Channel HD included).
However I have 2 doubt on my configuration.
I would like to be Ok for the card month update and for the safe of the card - No burn..

digit, use the latest configurator from B16MCC (which is 070 if I recall). The frequency doee not matter if using an external omnikey reader as it follows the ISO standard (reader adjusts frequency according to card specs) OR it will be automatically set for you on internal readers when using the great tool from B16MCC

Not all internal dmm readers are/act the same. There are many posts describing how some heat cards more than others, etc... but considering all that, 358 should be fine; that is how I tested my dm800. The only way, in my opinion, is to get yourself an omnikey reader €7 (£5) and never worry again

But is omnikey reader as fast as internal or its same like smargo? My card was freezing with smargo, than had to put in dm800 and its ecm time is 0.14, dm500 reads at same ecm time as dm800.

I am still waiting for my entitlement update! yesterday I received 5000+ emm but the entitlement is still same. 3 more days to go!!! will wait tonight in dm800 if not have to stick in smybox tomorrow!

Just checked the entitlement and the date is now showing Jan 2010!

The omnikey reader is outstanding and it costs 1/10th of a Smargo. I don't want to sound like an ad but for the price, it's unbeatable! I would go as far as stating that it's FASTER than the internal and most of all, the card remains COLD. Well built, leds, the works...

Can't agree more. The omnikey is a great reader. Mine runs in a dedicated linux pc and so most likely helps for excellent performance, my ecm times range from 0.099 to 0.115 and the card is stone cold. Updates are working via MGCamd and all is well. NewCS uptime is currently a personal best at 37 days.

Following on from my previous post regarding the white uk card and the Smargo card reader... (for those wishing to make use of their existing Smargo)

I can confirm that entitlements are successfully updated when using the Smargo and the following setup:

* DM800 running Gemini 4.50 (have updated since last post)
* Mgcamd 1.31 with NewCS 1.67 (entitlements updated with Mgcamd)

* Matching boxkey

hi guys recently had a thread going about not been able to get white sly card working in ireland on dm500s, thanks for those who helped with replies to thread i managed to finally wipe my hands of it and complete it!!!this a quote from b16mcc - "It seems you have little knowledge on what your actually doing here, please read a lot more and don't expect to get this working this week" - im glad i did get it working this week!! thanks for motivation and awesome program to easily do it- it is as easy as people say using that program i just didnt have joy on my gemini 4.2 image, after alot of thinking today i said i will change image and flashed nablisto darkstar 2 and soon as it downloaded and used the program it went off quite well. thanks alot guy- im still learning so thanks for patience to.. great work at sharing knowledge if only they were all like ye. thanks guys!!!!
