Thumbs down Streaming HD Using VLC.

Hi guys, simple question, has anyone been able to stream HD across the LAN using VLC ?

I'm using VLC v0.86i in MAC OSX and when I click to stream a HD channel from the DM8000 web interface it attempts to start then VLC crashes and shuts down. Any offers please guys ?
Cheers...

Just tried VLC v0.9.9 and it streams locally ok. There is a little glitch every once in a while. Maybe a few per minute. I guess the bottle neck is the 100mbit nic in the DM8000. Versions directly following v0.86i had a problem streaming to web from a linux box, I'll test later to see if this has been resolved.

Yes, I have a problem with HD channels on v.086i. It opens in VLC and freezes on the first frame streamed. That's with Winxp. Doesn't crash, and audio carries on OK.

Might be worth trying the later VLC version, thanks.

My System: Dream7020 and AZ Elite

Tested my AZbox and it works fine.

Are You using a cable or wifi ?

As I use wifi I noticed a few freezing moments but not that it disturbs the view.

That's with LAN. There's a VLC 1.0.0 RC version available (beta I think) that might be worth trying. Might try it on my Linux distros, as the one currently available just gives an empty screen, no log file in Messages.

My System: 2xDM7025(DVB-S tuner), DM600SPVR, DM800S, TM9100, Triax 90cm with MultiBracket 4 sats.

I am using 1.03. It plays SD channels fine, but it is virtually unwatchable on HD channels like SP HD. It seems to drop a LOT of frames giving a very jerky picture. I am using a LAN (no wifi), but it does go from the DM800 100MB/s LAN to a 1GB/s LAN on the PC. I am not sure whether this causes the problem. Is anybody else having the same problem?

My System: -DM800 fixed on 28.2-quad -DM7020 motorized -Skystar HD2 motorized -Cards&Cams&Cas

a few rare glitches, but nothing worth mentioning. I'm running Vista and streaming Sly1 HD right this second without any problems. VLC 1.0.3 running on the PC

shumifan50, Vista64, to be precise
