Basic Info Needed

OK want to do a simple cardshare at home maybe. I will spend ages doing the software research on here, am well able to do everything thats needed so OK on that front.

I only need some direction on hardware. Need direction on what boxes to buy. Not interested in HD, so maybe one basic box and one with PVR capability. Also UK based stockist who isnt going to rob me.

Any directions they would be appreciated.

depends if you want a new box or 2nd hand...
Theres some great older boxes ie 7020 or 7000 these can be bought at quite a resonable price

The only current model Dreambox with RF output is the DM7025. If you don't want to spend that much you could use the composite output from a 600 into an RF converter. I use one from the scart output of my DM8000 and I get a great picture all round the house on 3 TVs.

Use _www.satstore.co.uk , Mark is great !

So to confirm the DM500S would be fine as one of the boxes, no problems there. Would the Dreambox 7020Si be ok as the second box. I've had a look and it seems to have an RF passthrough?

My System: Dreambox 7020si, Technomate TM600, Technomate TM9100 Fracarro Penta 85 Dish, Televes 0.6dB Quad lnb, TM SG2200 motor. 60cm Channel Master BSB dish on 28e, Mti Blueline 0.2db Twin Lnb. Rover ST-4 Meter Cyfra+ Subscription

You could also consider trying the Technomate, TM9100, TM9100 Super, TM500 or TM600. All 3 units have RF output and apart from the TM500 are all PVR capable

The TM9100 & TM9100 Super are very well supported, although the TM500 & 600 are only currently supported by the Underground Resistance Team, who do produce a good image although i find them a little too boring for my liking as they show very little information on the on screen display.

I would expect EDG, Allsats & possibly the DS team to start producing images for these units in the near future.

They all work well as client boxes, and as server boxes if the client list is kept around 15-20 peers (Using CCcam).

After 20 or so peers its starts falling over itself , although it seems ok under Gbox, Mbox & NewCS.

You can get these Technomate receivers from Southern Satellite who advertise on this forum. I have used them and have found them to be very helpful, professional and friendly

Other boxes to consider are the IPbox & DGStation range, Most of the range is PVR compatible and most of the units have RF output too

These have fairly good support from some teams like S.I.F, Powerboard, Satkeynet, ABCom and also have some modified Dreambox 500 images available for them.

I like the fact that you can run Gemini 4.6 on them, not for the fact it can run Gemini but more for the fact that it probably narks the Gemini team

I have tested the IPbox 200s and it was OK for CS although it did have a few little niggles with the software which should sort itself out after a few more releases.

Other cheaper alternatives are the Dbox2 although these are only any good as client boxes without spending more money

They are made by Nokia, Philips and Sagem. The Nokia box is the best one of the three

Enigma support is also limited as most of these units run neutrino based images rather than enigma based ones. Nothing wrong with Neutrino image, i just don't like them

The 7020 is discontinued. If you buy one be careful its not a fake.

OK thanks for prev pointers. Picked up a DM500 and a DM7020. I have the 500 installed, and picking up channels etc so all is good there. I cannot get my Sky Card to work with it. Its a white card. I've installed Cccam and NewCS. Does anyone have a link on how to set up sky on a DM from scratch?

At this stage I'm close to pulling my hair out. I've installed both of the boxes, scanned for channels and got the network set up.

I've been able to add in both CCcam and NEWcs to both boxes, worked out my BoxKey and to my mind configured the files correctly. Could someone have a look over them and tell me how stupid I am. Also if someone could confirm if they are in the correct dirs, and what other files I should have, as I am a complete linux novice :
NewCS
etc/TuxBox/Config/newcs.xml

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!--

For setup-issues, look in readme.txt!
If there are other troubles, try different forums or irc channels around )

The configfile are NOT case-sensitive, and shouldnt care about dos/unix cr/lf.

** This is the example file for Dreambox/TD etc. that use SCI interfaces.
