White Sky card - questions

Hi,

I today realised I wasn't able to watch anymore with my 963 card, NewCS and CCCam.

Checked entitlements and all but three entries were gone. Tried putting card in Sky box and got "Wrong card" - what the heck?

I read for 2 hours and found out that MgCamd is the way to go. So I set it all up and NewCS indeed IS showing both Bd ECMs and EMMs.

So do I just have to wait now? What about the "wrong card" message? Should I be worried? It worked for weeks without any problems in my DM800...

One very important question:
Do EXPIRED entitlements show up in the ENTITLEMENTS menu of NewCs (with a date in the past) or are they just deleted from the overview? I have in mind seeing them but as "expired". I am a bit worried at the moment because they don't show up at all...

Thanks!

Hello

Welcome to the forum sky963

Well I do not know 100% for sure (does anyone?) but if you have not been returning the card to the sky stb for entitlement updates, then I suspect that is it now your card is defunct but others may be able to confirm or deny this.

You have been putting the card back in a sky box once a month havent you??

The white cards dont seem to update the entitlements on linux boxes atm. No doubt more cam development is needed

I have heard of this happening a few times on other forums. Basically your card has lost its pairings with your Sky box

I put my card back into the dodgy box at least once a week to prevent this from happening. The card doesn't seem to update the entitlements but it stays alive

I would say its best to ring Sky and tell them your kids have lost the card and get them to send you a new one. You can guarantee that Sky are looking out for this sort of thing so i wouldn't go ringing them to tell them what your sky box is saying

i would also ensure that the Sky dodgybox isn't connected to the phone line either otherwise you may as well ring uncle Rupe and tell him your sharing his card with most of europe

Hi,

thanks for replies. Problem is, I am in Germany and they can't just send me a new card. I've heard that they can re-pair the cards when you phone them?

The safest option is to buy a cheap second hand receiver, tell Sky that the old ones gone bang and get them to pair the card to the new box

Doing it that way will get the card paired to the new box without raising suspicions with Sky

You can get an old Pace or Amstrad box off Ebay for about a fiver plus postage

Just make sure you put the card into the Sky box at least once a fortnight to make sure it doesn't happen again

Others have done this too and got the entitlements back ok by either leaving the card in the s$y box or by doing a forced software update.

MgCamd does indeed update the card in your dreambox with the correct configuration. My cards have updated till 22/12/09. Check the Config Generator made by B16MCC.

This was the first update that the Whites have had since their initial activation and what I did notice was that the blues which they replaced and where stil working ok outside of a s$y box lost their entitlements very soon after even though they had been updating ok and had entitlements till the end of December too. So maybe turn off the emm updates for the blues if you want to get the longest life ouuta it b4 updating your whites.

This is only my own experience and have not heard anyone else say it happened to them, so maybe this is not the norm, but I can hardly complain.
