Copy EMUs from one image to another

Hi

I have an image in my box that is not so stable, but the scam and newcam are good. Is there a way of copiying the EMU and all that is needed and insert it to another image that does not have it?

If yes, please some instructions.....

Thanks, TG

I think that there's more to it than that. I read some stuff on Toes a while back. There's an emulist that needs editing at least, AFAIK. Have a search. It was about SCAM.

yes , you will need to edit that if the new image does not have a matching set of emus.

typical

Typical, how those answers are always useless..

I'm using sats for a while now. I must say that the DB is the most powerfull of them all. AND the least documented to. Some people (unix-freaks) seem to get along installing obscure emu's, plugins, whatever. But never is any real usefull information posted anywhere. There is no manuel for those emu's anywhere on the net! realy frustrating that is. (ex nokia user)

Those posts are pretty old and criticism is unlikely to get any useful answers.

Have you looked at: http://byksat.kabel1.cz/dreambox/dreambox.html

Yes, this thread is pretty old, but I assure you if anyone really has a problem and there is someone in this board, especially moderators, who have the answers, we will help.

Most of the stuff is covered since in the various guides and stickies anyway. Have you read any guides or stickies before posting your frustrations??? Have you tried asking a specific question in this board and did not get a friendly and helpful reply????

TG,

The installation of an emu in any image i had is just copying the program files to var/bin chmod 755 and the key files either to var/scce or var/keys depending on the emu.

What is different from image to image is the way to make them available in the emulist.

For hydra images i posted a mini tutorial for camd3 manual installation at http://www.sat-industry.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=19912 but you can follow the same procedure for any other cam as far as i know(Tried newcamd, scam and xcam)

For ruDream the difference is that you edit emulist.xml file but it has been a while since i stoped using their images so i do not remeber exactly where that file is located. (You can ftp all of the files to your HD and do a search there). The only thing that has to be added is a line like for other emus there.

Now i just flashed the new SDT image but i didn't have time yet to check for manual installation of emus. I only update the program files with the new releases(ftp)

Hope this helps.

Can multiple emu's be installed on a DB e.g. newcamd and scam? Any need to do it?

Sometimes one emu will get something another won't. It's doesn't often happen, and it tends to be only a temporary state of affairs with the better emus like NewcamD and SCAM, but it's nice to have a couple installed for 'insurance'.

Not much 'room' in the DM500 though

Is there any advantage of one over the other (with a view to maximising footy availability)? Support, ease of use, number of sats supported etc?

IMHO newcamd is the best at the moment as it does pretty much all of what the others do , with the big plus of letting you use your s*y card in a cardslot of the DB. The downside of it is that you cannot share pr*miere with it, nor can you use VR3 cards. gbox will get over the first problem, while scam will handle the latter.

As I don;t know what a VR3 card is I don't think it'll be a problem

Hey Costas

Thanks for this info. The problem with this thread is that it is a pretty old one that was suddenly reopened. So I am really ok with my cams. But I have a proposal for you (that you can't refuse, it's that good ): How about you put all that you know about this subject into our own Idiot Guide? I think it is a good one to have in there, anything to do with inserting cams will help a lot of dreamers. Just answer the last post in the IG, and later I will make sure that you will get all the credit for it. As the Guide is slowly but surely reaching the 20k viewing we got to pep it up with some new posts!

How about it then?
