Dreambox Kaputt Poll

OK dreamers, my box is going to be two years old in a few weeks, and whatever I done to it - it still works its magic (hope I am not jinxing it). We have had numerous "My Dreambox is broken"-threads over the years, most of them were solved with a null modem cable.
So I would like to know if there have been cases of Dreamboxes actually needing professional repairs other than having a new image loaded.

So lets have your vote and your comments if your box was in repair:

My System: Dreambox 7000s - original DM Image 1.08

Hi all...Just to say that this is my first week of owning a dreambox (7000s) and I don't think I've ever spent this much time on researching on something this extensively. There have been numerous times this week that I have thought that my Dreambox had been up the spout, but upon the puchase of a null modem cable and using the universal Dream Up Utility, my fears were dissolved. It was so nice to the words ( Your dreambox is aalive and talking to us) Touch wood, no professional help needed on that basis yet...

My System: Dreambox 7020si,SIF 1.9.4- Dreambox 800HD Nabilo BH 0.12 Netgear adsl router, 98cm Funkee on Diseqc motor, Maintaining Hummy 5400 for the old man!

I have a 7000s gathering dust at present because the tuner is weak and the final straw is the remote does not any more.
Fortunately I also have a 7020s which is working fine but it does seem a waste of a dreambox.
I have found replacement tuners for 39 euros but am struggling to find away to sort the remote problem.
One thing for sure is it is not the remote it self as both of my remotes work on the 7020 and I have also taken the box to pieces to check for loose connections.
Anyone got and answer to this one or know anyone who can repair it?

you can't blame that on the dreambox, the number of times it has been dropped on the stone floor, it is a wonder it still works. I do have to sort of press on the housing in a certain manner for it to work, but...

OK: If you have flattened your dreambox with your steam engine do not include this in the poll, ok? Let me know and I will add this as a special entry

My System: Dream7020 and AZ Elite

I think the box is a good made gadget

Tested that and tried that and still working (well null modem is needed more than once but still it is working) Must be the Linux if it had been a Microsh!t system it had been wasted loong time ago

My only!! oriblem is the network - My wireless system seems to fill up the router with crap so I must restarted it every so often

I am working on that

My System: Dreambox 7000, Skystar2

I bought a null-modem cable when I bought my Dreambox 7000, and it's still in its plastic wrapping (the cable, that is)

If that was for me: The infrared receiver (inside the DM7020) for the remote control slowly died away.

I have one of the real old Blue screen DB 7000, sometimes it dosnt like the hard disk but thats only a chip overheating due to proximaty of the HD cable, lid off and it works fine.
I also have an amber screen one as well with a separate supply for the HD robbed from an external CD Recorder unit. But again faultless despite the whole family using it.

I have seen no need to upgrade but the 8000 spec does look good.......

My first DM7025 which is about 2 years old now has a dead backlight on the LCD. Just bought the OLED upgrade for it and I'm very pleased with it. See my post in the Dreambox General forum.

A friend of mine has a 5620, and after some time it would not receive all the possible stations. we suspected the tuner, and it weas sent to the manufacturer for a repair. In the end it was a blown transistor, box is back working again.

My System: Dreambox 7000 (several) Gemini Luxsat

Had mine for years, I think since 04

My Orange screened 7000 has refused to power up this morning, maybe its gone on strike?
I removed the lid to have a look I cant see any fuses, and power is getting to the connector on the main board.
As it was an early one I powered the drive from a separate board I took out of an external CDROM drive so its never had much load going through it. Is there any 7000 gurus still out there?

Now like all good Dreamboxers I have a reserve, an old Blue screen one that Noah used to watch channels on whilst wating for the dove to come back yada yada. Yes its old.
But to my horror powered that up and all it does is blank blue screen, tried giving it a nudge through the serial port, but dream up can't connect to it.

Starting to panic.....is this the end

Joe

PS Edit

Just to say it looks like its the power supply on the orange screen one, anyone got any info on replacement parts .
