how to use ftv card in Dreambox 500???

Hey guys,

I've been using MgCamd, and occasionally Evocamd in my Dreambox 500, everything is fine with it - except I'd like to be able to stick my FTA card in there, and do away with my second sat receiver.

There is quite a bit online about how to do this - but, as quite often is the case, its pretty hard to follow it all.

I'm thinking I need to edit one of the config files, but I'm not sure which one, and what exactly I need to put in there.

Its not a subscription card, only a FTA, so it shouldn't really be that difficult. Can someone give me some instructions? Preferably for MgCamd, but Evocamd is fine too.

Cheers.

Hmmm. Yeah, its a bit of a strange one you see digdeep.

Its a UK card, and you don't need it in the box for nearly all of the channels. But you do need it for about 3 channels - even though there's no subscription fee for the card.

Its all a bit mental - but people from the UK, or those watching UK TV will understand. You need the card for a few of the channels - even though they're free.

And there aren't any keys for the channels - they're encrypted, but free. How confusing is that?????

The card works perfectly in the *other* receiver I have - but I'd like to just stick it in the Dreambox, and thats one less remote you have to juggle with (you know how it is!).

Do you mean a $ky card? FTA needs no card; FTV needs a card.

Thanks mhku - yep its a $ky card.

Ah - there's a difference between FTA and FTV, I see.

Then its FTV I'm looking for - basically, as I'm sure you've guessed, to view 4&5. FTA is working fine, but I don't want to have to go over to the other box for 4&5.

Are you able to give me any tips?

For a Sky card, you need CCcam. Not only does it decode all the channels the card is active for, it also receives and acts on the periodic "keep alive" signals any Sky card needs to remain active.

Although I don't have a 500, I have both a 7025 and a Mutant 200S and CCcam is working fine on both; one with a subscription card and the other FTV.

As billnot say's use CCcamd as it does everything you need, if you use Mgcamd for other channels such as prem au then just set it as default cam for the required provider. CCcamd also uses the same keys as Mgcamd so if you edit your own softcam and keys then CCcamd will work just fine.
Your other option is G**x but thats not worth the effort unless it is the last option for you.

Just run CCcam as your default cam (emu) for those channels.

Check it on

your DB IP:16001

(think that's the port)

To add to what mhku has said, open your PC browser at

http://<your.db.ip.>:16001/

and CCcam will give you a very useful tabbed page of information and options.

This is great stuff guys thanks.....

So from what you're saying I still need MGCamd for Prem - and I need to switch to CCcam when I'm viewing 4&5. Thats easy enough to setup. I'm wondering if its a little slow when swapping between Cams though.

And the other option is to edit the CCcam keyfiles manually - then I can just use CCcam all of the time.

CCcam does Prem too :-)
and D+
and it uses the standard key files, no need to change anything.

Ah, right.... thats more like it.

I did try CCcam when I first got my Dreambox, and didn't have any luck with it in terms of clearing Prem etc. I then stumbled across Evocamd and MGcamd which both worked first time - so I stuck with them.

I'll give the CCcam another go tonight - perhaps I just didn't know what I was doing last time.

My System: DM800 / DM7025 C/S 320GB HDD. Nabilosat Images, TD88 / 0.2dB LNB. DiSEqc TM2200(53e-58w). 500GB NAS Drive.

I've got the same issue. Trying to use an ex sly sub card in my 7025.
Advice given to me, which i need to try out tonight, is to use mgcamd with newcs. Important you must use the new cs version.
This should pick up the 'keep alive' updates. You can check this by going to http://dreamboxip:3001
The advantage with this if it works is not having to mess about with new cams.
Let me know how you get on mate.

Will do titty.

I haven't had much of a chance to play around with it yet.

I did install CCcam last night and 4&5 didn't clear. I did wonder if the card had gone to sleep as its been out of the Sly box for nearly a week. I'm going to take another look tonight.

CCcam cleared Prem, but not D+ - yet D+ cleared using MgCamd, with the same keys.

I'll be at home most of the weekend, and online so hopefully we'll make some progress.

anyway, back on to the subject of the thread - which is using your FTV card in your Dreambox.

The card is in there at the moment and I have:

CCcam-2.0.3
and
CCcam-2.0.3/NewCS-1.30

both available as emus.

Does anyone know the difference between the two? and which one I should be using with my FTV card?

Through the blue button versions 2.0.0 & 1.7.1 & 1.7.0 are also available.

Like titty above, Id like to get ftv working with Mgcamd. Is there anyone out there with any ideas??

titty, any updates your end???

Answering several things at once, the NDS Sky encryption has not been compromised. The only way to view an encrypted channel is with a card that has a current entitlement for that channel. I'm using CCcam/NewCS in my boxes with 100% success. I've tested things we're not supposed to talk about just for the fun of it and they work (can't have multiroom in Spain, so it's a way round it if you get my meaning).

There was one version of CCCam (ŋ1.7.1?) that had a problem with Sky cards, but that was in the past.

I'm currently using a mixture of CCcam 2.0.0 and 2.0.3

thanks Billnot - its all useful information.

Did you edit any CCcam config files manually so it would work? Or you just stuck the card in and it worked straight away for C4&5 ??

Are you using a cam config from the installer menu too?

CH4 and Five will work with CCcam with no file editing.

This is the Dreambox 500 forum. I don't have a 500. I have a 7025 and a couple of Mutant 200S. But CCcam seems to be the same whatever your hardware.

In all cases, CCcam is one of the options in the add-ons menu (on the 7025, it's part of Gemini's Blue Panel), so I keep it updated that way. I do change the CCcam.cfg a bit, but only for c**d sh**ing. For a single Sky card, on every box I've tried it on, it reads a Sky card straight "out of the box".

Because I've come to Dreamboxes through Linux rather than the other way round, I tend to do my file editing manually in a Telnet session.

In fact with CCcam you don't need any editing for any channels, even the premium channels (Sports and Movies) which only work in the married Sky box.

For the "six mixes" a Sky card will work in any Sky Digibox. Therefore CCcam doesn't have to present it with any specific box number.

For Sports and Movies, a Sky card only works in the box to which it is paired ("married"). CCcam can extract the necessary information from the card and make it think it's in the right box.

You may have gathered I'm quite a fan of CCcam when it comes to Sky cards (which are my main area of interest and activity) and you'd be right!

Hope this helps.

Well, I still can't get the bloody thing to work, despite trying different versions of CCcam and the different downloaded configs.

I'm considering reimaging my Dreambox, then installing CCcam (and nothing else) and seeing if that makes any difference.

The card works fine in my Sky box, so the card is fine. I've never had a card in my Dreambox, so I guess the Dreambox card reader could possibly be faulty.

Erm, yes, if I'm understanding you.....

I'm installing it first through the blue panel, then, again through the blue panel, moving off Mgcamd and onto CCcam, and then selecting 'Start/Restart Cam'. And it loads the cam so it is shown on the button of the screen when you change channels, but it doesn't clear C4&5.

Haven't had the chance to reimage the DB yet, let me know if anything else comes to mind.
