Im sorry but im new here and have the same problem
dead db with gemini 4.3.1 and i dont have a clone
but i dont understand it really about the jtag cable
i understand all of it so far but do you need to put 3.3v onto it now or not, some say you need and others not and if so where to take it from
help please

I dont know if you can install the image with a network connection, i updated with a rs232 cable after the jtag operation.

Hello ,

You have to follow above my guide . You do not need any 3.3 V just 5 pcs
resistor .

Hi quick question about the jtag cable and connections for my broken clone dm500s.

I've read in the forums people just connecting pin 25 to 16 on the dreambox and others shorting pins 18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25 to port 16 on the Dreambox.

Which approach should I use when making the cablw for the dm500s?

hi friends i was read here and on my friend was help me to fixe that dm500 but now i dont know how i have to put image .i was use same cabel rs232 and same port but its not come nothing. m useing dreamup v 1.3.2.1

if any body know about that plz help me

Hello ,
You can short 18-25 as a Ground .The important pin is 25 .

Hello ,

Some questions 1st.
Dm500 LeDs are turn on ? Have you disconnect the jtag cable ?
Are you sure that jtag procedure completed 100% ?
Have you follow my guide above or else ?

Hello ,

Be patient , try to short your flat cable to 10- 15cm .The correct pin is 11.

Describe me INTEL flash memory chip type .

Probably you do not follow my guide so this one is tricky to connect .You have to press connect button first and almost the same time put the power plug . You have to try it many times .

You have to follow my guide . It work 100% but it depend from the intel chip .

Hi there, I had exactly the same problem with the command line version of JTAG. It erased the flash but would not upload the new bootloader. I used the Windows version of JTAG in the end. It took loads of attempts to connect, getting the timing right between powering on the Dreambox and hitting the JTAG connect button but I got there in the end and re-flashed successfully with the Windows JTAG version.

Give it another go.

Hi,

i have suggessfull wirte one DM500 with the dos tool.
But now it is importen i can write a xxx.bin bootloader.
I would like to you the Windows Programm (DreamFlash for Windows v0,1) and i only become this

Error:register test faild
Check you JTAG/LTP1 connection and/orr adjust you voltage regulator

What can i do now ?

Hello ,

You have to follow the windows guide and not the command prompt one.
Thus because it not support your Intel Flash chip .
So you have to try many times to connect .
First press connect and almost the same time add the power plug .
It depends of the CPU performance .

Hi, I unwittingly bought a clone and thanks to these posts I have got bootloader installed. I have unsoldered the jtag cable and now I get no LED's or anything else. I haven't got a R232 cable yet. Will everything spring into life when that is connected or have I done something wrong?

This is not correct , the green led must turn on after jtag procedure .
Are you sure it ends successfully ?

Hi, I downloaded the zshare.net guide and followed that. Had no problems reloading. The LEDs stayed on whilst the JTag was plugged into my computer, but went out when I unplugged it. Had no response at all from remote. Have since tried all kinds of reloads in all kinds of combinations. Can now get green LED on after reloading, but not off remote (Batts are new). Only comes on when mains lead is plugged into the back. Absolutly no conection from computer to dreambox using either R232 or LAN. Just about ready to bin it and buy something else DM600pvr!!! (Genuine) When it comes to mac addresses and stuff like that I haven't got a clue what to do.

I have a genuine Dm500 with Gemini 4.40 on it working now, but have a second Dm500 (clone) ordered and on its way to me, is there any way i can change its Mac address so i can put the 4.40 of gemini image on this one also without issue or was this a once of issue and i can safely put this image on my clone ?

Hello , Sorry for the delay but in Greece is vacation period.
So , lets take it from scratch . You have jtag successfully the dm 500 .
The led stays on after jtag cable disconnect.
To proceed with flash you need a null cable . This is a specific cable with pins 2-3 3-2 5-5 4-6 6-7 7-8. This is the correct pin assignment . However it may work just with the three pairs 2-3-5 .

Now you are ready to flash , use only dreamup soft and serial cable only .

Try again .
