Is it Jtag time?

Hi to all from Athens, Greece.

Yesterday I left my kid watching Jetix. When back I found my DB500s live but no picture, sound or response.

The green Led is always ON. I have to unplug the power supply to switch the Receiver OFF.

With Dream Up and Null modem serial cable ONLY the Unit "Is Alive ........." etc., succesfully Erased Flash and Flashed it with even the final original image but the problem remains unsolved.

Is it JTAG time?

Regards,

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

Is it a clone and what image are you using?

Sorry mate, I forgot to mention that bought as original but in my opinion is a Clone and was "running" Nabilo 0.8 Max Var.

Tried a lot to erase flash & re-flash images with no luck.

The STB is still fully recognized by Dream Up, Serial null modem NO LAN, but unfortunately cannot be back to action.

The Green led stills always ON.

Any input?

Thanks in advance.

Have you been trying to install a Gemini image?

If not, Nabilo would not have bricked your box with the time bomb, so I dont know if JTAGing will be of any use in your case.

Thanks a lot for the reply,

I never used Gemini images on by STB. Also I heard that the effect of "time bomb" is a completely dead STB, no leds etc.

Mine is still alive, the green led is ON and recognised by DreamUp.

According to DreamUp messages:

- a Flash Erase is possible and done already a few times
- a Flash is possible and done also a few times including erase.img

The result is always the same.

I' ll check again my null modem cable. Currently I' m using a

2<->3
3<->2
5<->5

Thanks again for your input.

A few more questions, dear Forum Members, since the DB is not revived yet.

1- Is DreamUP "Flash Erase" option enough for flushing the memory?
2- Do I need an erase.img? If yes which one is the best?
3- When trying to flash an erase.img I' m getting a message "jffs2 not valid, Flash erase not supported" - Means something serious?
4- Is the message "Box flashed successfuly" enough, cause anytime I flash the STB appears but the problem remains.
5- Is satankey updater plugin dangerous? I saw somehere in here that could "mess up" the image. And I was using satakey plugin

Thanks in advance, mates.

1: Should be,
5: According to a lot of members, yes, its dangerous. It seems to wreck an image if there is a problem connecting to wherever it downloads the kesy from.

Most of what you describe would suggest that the flash was successful (Green LED, Flash Successfull........)

Are you sure there is a problem with the Image and, that its not something silly like a dodgy / poorly connected scart cable?

Can you connect to the dreamboxes web interface? If you can then this would suggest that the image is probably loaded properly.

Sorry I cant be of more help as I've never encountered your problem.
