My System: dreambox 500s
connecting dvd recorder to dreambox

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before but I've been reading old threads for an hour and hasn't found a solution to my simple, I think, problem.
I've got a dvd recorder phillips dvdr3455h and a dreambox 500s. My problem is that I can't seem to be able to connect the recorder to my box. Recorder has not scart lead, just component, hdmi and rf in/out. Previously I had it connected to a normal satellite box, through the RF and the RCAs. It worked and recorded ok. Now the dreambox hasn't got a RF so I cannot record. The recorder won't find the signal if I only plug the RCAs.
Anyone knows how can I go about this? Do I need a modulator? if so what type?
Sorry for the amount of questions and I hope you can help me.

Thanks

Use a AV-RF unit between your Dreambox and Recorder.

My System: dreambox 500s

I've tried this and it won't work. Basically my dvdr hasn't got a scart lead so the only way it will work is by connecting the video/audio cables PLUS the RF. But dreambox hasn't got the RF and there is no way I can get the channels through the dvd recorder and hence record programs.
Can someone please please give me a hint on this? I bought a AV to RF converter but it doesnt work either.
Thanks

by the way this is the manual for my dvd, page 16.

Are you sure you gave a link to the correct manual?
There is no mention of HDMI in the specification page (page 73/75)
I think that you probably missed on the possibility that the front panel has the usual RCA connectors for composite Video and audio R/L (see page 9/75).
This should sort out your problem.
Or am I missing something here, as you say you connected the RCA and it didn't work?
RF is the worst thing that you would use. Should use AV.
Looks like you probably didn't setup the TV system correctly between the receiver, recorder and TV.
What do you in your location? is it PAL?
Suggest to go over the manual again.
Also attach photos of the DVR and 500S showing the connectors.

Firstly, let me apology for having posted a live link. I was unaware of this rule.
Secondly, you are right, the dvd player hasnt got hdmi connection but it has component connection, that's my mistake.
Indeed I have connected the box through the RCA connectors and the dvd doesn't find the signal from the dreambox. I know that the RF output is bad quality but it worked fine before on my humax set top box.
I've attached pictures of the rear of both the dvd recorder and the dreambox.
Thanks for your help

No problem. It is only a warning for first time.
I don't understand why the RCA connections didn't work.
It is possible that the Dreambox composite video is faulty. Try to check this by connecting the three RCA connectors directly to the TV RCA connectors (if it has them) or use a SCART-RCA adapter if it has only SCART.
Once you are sure that the output is OK, then we can safely assume that there is something wrong with your setup that prevents you from getting the signal output from the DVR.
I suggest that you would connect the Dreambox RCA connectors to the EXT 1 input on the DVR.
Then you must select EXT 1 as the AV input using your remote.
Please do this and report back.
One more thing, the 500S has got SCART output, so why can't you use that as well? There are SCART-RCA cables.

OK its all sorted now. I checked everything you mentioned and the connectors were working on the tv. So I checked the settings on the dvdr and I managed to select Ext1 and hence it works. I feel so stupid as I don't think I'm that dumb not to check something like this!
Anyway, thank you very much for your help.
Regards

OK. Glad you sorted it out.
By the way, the video cable that you are using on the output of the DVR looks rather thin in the picture. Try to replace it with a better quality one.
Not that you will notice much difference, but if your cables are not of high quality, it can affect you recorded material.
