How to toggle list and column view?

Hi everyone, I discovered the forum searching for a solution to a problem I have with my Dreambox. I got a Dreambox 500 about a month ago and am more than happy with it. Two days ago I was unpleasantly surprised.

I was browsing through the bouquets looking to find something to watch and I clicked on the "audio" button on the remote, which was supposed to show the next program in the bracket following the service name. At least it used to do that. Now, to my surprise the list of services (or bouquets or providers) started showing in three columns and it is very difficult to look at. Also when I have the service list in three columns I am not able to see the brackets with the show that is on. I tried to restore the previous situation (one column list only) by clicking on the same "audio" button, but it just doesn't happen.

Is there a button combination or another way to get back to the simple one column view? I know that in the later versions of the Dreambox, there is a "video" button on the remote which does exactly that - toggle between list and column view (1, 2 or 3), but on my Dreambox 500 there is no such button on the remote.

I have Ccam 2.1.0 and Gemini installed. It is very strange that until two days ago, everything was perfect and the "audio" button (when used with the service list showed) toggled the running and the next show in the brackets following the service name.

I hope someone would come up with a solution. Maybe it is a simple thing, but I am new to Dreambox and totally inexperienced with its more advanced features.

Thank you!

Ah you have fallen foul of one of those little known button press combinations.

Try this:

Select the channel list then press the video button. This should allow you to toggle between three different channel list views. (It does on my 7020 with Gemini image anyway)

Thank you for the suggestion Analoguesat, but it doesn't work for me, since I have a Dreambox 500 and its remote doesn't have a "video" button. I've read about the toggling with the "video" button on the 7020, and that is why it is even more strange that I have managed to switch to three columns. Maybe I have pressed a combination that does the trick on the 500, but I really don't know how I did it. And now I can't go back to the simple one-column list view.

It is frustrating, I have to admit.

Get the channel list up then press the help key. Different images have different commands, so this might not work with your image.

If that does not work try every button on the remote and see what happens.

The funniest thing is when I open help while in the channel list, it suggests using the "video" button to toggle between list and column view. The button that I don't have on my remote. I also tried every button available, even combination of buttons with no results.

I am starting to think to go to the shop and ask them to reinstall everything and start from scratch. It is very strange there are no more people with the same problem. I guess it's not possible that I am the first to encounter such a problem with Dreambox 500 having in mind these boxes have been around for quite some time.

Still, please, if anyone has an idea, share your thoughts here. All suggestions are welcome.

A friend once had a similar problem and did as follows:-
Open Dreambox Control Centre (or equivalent)
Goto FTP>share>tuxbox>enigma>resources.
There should be a file named:-rcdm5xxx.xml
Copy it to your Desktop.
Right click on it and goto these two Lines:-

<key name="video" code="27" picture="key.11" />
<key name="help" code="52" picture="key.23" />

Edit the said two Lines as follows:-

<key name="video" code="52" picture="key.11" />
<key name="help" code="27" picture="key.23" />

Note that you've only alternated the digits 27 and 52.
Now, Save your File and FTP to the following location:-
/var/tuxbox/config/enigma/resources/
Reboot your Dreambox
Henceforth, to change the Channel List View on your TV Screen, first press OK (to display the Channel List on the TV Screen) then press the Help Button (which has now been changed to Video Button), until you find the desired Channel List view.

Thank you Choco, your solution sounds very logical and I guess it should solve the problem. Now I just need to download Dreambox Control Center and try the trick.

Hello my friend...it appears that you're still very new to this subject.
So please BEFORE trying to change anything with Dreambox Control Centre, FIRST take a Backup of your current Image with Dreamup. This would enable you to restore your Dreambox to its current state should you mess up (excuse my chosen words...no offence meant) something in the process. Cheers.

No offense taken choco. I've tried the root and dreambox login/password, but it appears that the company which sold me the device changed the default login and password to "protect themsleves" as they told me. Tuesday is the first working day here after a national holiday, so they promised to give me the login/password then.

Thank you all for the help, I hope I won't bother you again with such troubles. However I am glad I found this friendly community.

You're most welcome my friend. If you do get the password etc. remember that before trying out what was stated in Post#6 above, first take a backup of your Image with Dreamup. Cheers and good luck.

Once again I would like to say thanks to everyone who offered their help in this thread. I have finally got a word from the guy who sold me the Dreambox, he gave me the login and password and I was able to switch to one-column list view using the software remote from Dreambox Control Centre.

THANK YOU!
