What is the fan size and why do you need a switch?

Fan size 45 mm and switch because the box is in bedroom and some times switch off at night.

Are there a lot of Dreamboxes that need additional fans fitting ? My DM500s is a clone and sits on top of my PC Tower. I have never considered it hot enough to justify any additional fans. Is this design issue then ??

All electronic equipments get hot while operating and some even under standby condition.
In a hot country like Israel, I need to cool all my AV equipments with a ventilator on a stand, otherwise they will become quite hot and this can shorten their life.
In your case, living in the UK, a Dreambox might not feel that hot, but it is Summer now so you need to take care of it's becoming hot.
It is not a good idea to put it on top of the PC tower, as the PC itself must have nothing on top of it in order to cool down.
This way, the PC is getting hotter and it is also becoming an additional heat source for your Dreambox.
So my recommendation is to put it away from the PC, and if possible on a cool metallic object which can act as a heat sink.

I think i will worry about it when we finally get a summer.....And when those 3 days arrive i will stck it under my desk fan...lol

i wonder if this could help my dreambox, it don'st feel over hot, but once as its school holiday the dreambox is etiher on or on standby all day
when watching tv around 9.00 oclock at night the dreambox keeps freezing up, the internet is working ok (using is dreambox as a cs group)

If the freezing is noticable only with the CS channels, then the problem is not with the heating.

just tried it,
when frozen on cs channel went to bbc1 and that was working, went back to cs channel that was still frozen
looks like its the internet link thats the probelm
will need to investigate a bit more
don;t know if its anything to do with the fact that i was the irish versions of cs channels and cs group uses english card

Setanta Ireland by any chance?? - Not all programmes are available to UK cards, so its quite possible the channel will sit there with a frozen picture until the end of the blocked programme.

My 7020 does something similar when a feed ends and the transmission ceases.

i get S** Sports with irish adverts,
my cs group card is a english group, I'm in the notts uk
i think it must be the transponder that i'm using.
really want to get to the bottom of this freeze ups
