Need a hand here mates!

When I try to FTP DM500. I connect then I lose connection. It says Telnet connected / Telnet disconnected / Then, FTP disconnected. Even with out trying to load I connect to DM viva LAN, but then after a very short time I lose connection it gets weak. The connection only comes back when I reboot DM500. Then it connects but again does not last long and dies again. OK then. Hope to hear from you soon.

Well

I do not think there is sufficient information for anyone to be able to help you, a lan connection cannot get weak, but have you considered the possibility of a faulty cable, what exactly have you tried to resolve the problem? Have you checked out the idiots guide and FAQ's

When I try to run DCC it saids in bottom of FTP, dreambox has no IP#.( I put ip# in dreambox )in my PC I have these boxes checked off in local area connecion. Authenticate as computer info is available, and the other one, Authenticate as guest when user or computer info is unavailable. No sure what the problem is?

If he were not a wizard, from head down to the root, you would have got to worry-your DB only boots

Can you ping the Dreambox? Can you connect with an FTP program rather than via telnet or a web browser?

How much space is left in /var?

There I have 72% space left in var. I was connecting last nite , but right now I am not. I cannot ping dreambox. but when I was running dcc FTP yesterday I was getting ping values as I was searching for DB IP# on FTP DCC. I am following infomation I got at wwwdreamboxtips.com/how-to-connect-your-dreambox-to-your-pc/ Only thing I could not do was use FLASHFXP like it said. I downloaded it but when I clicked on it it said file does not excitst. I been following that page of how to, from dreamboxtips.com but no luck, it is not working out for me. I printed out the whole pages and followed it step step. no luck.

Have you tried connecting with your PC firewall disabled? The simplest of things can cause the biggest headaches..

How about if you try giving your PC LAN connection a fixed IP address, e.g. 192.168.1.102/24? and then connecting to the Dreambox? As opposed to 'Obtain your IP address automatically'?

This is a problem with your PC's network connection, not the Dreambox.

Well

I notice you are using dial up (although your profile says dail up), if you do not have internet connection sharing setup correctly on your PC then you will not get a fully functioning LAN as the combination of a crossover cable and dial up if I remember correctly will lead to this kind of problem. I suspect that you would be better having both items on standard Cat5 cables to a router which is then connected to your dial up modem, or just get a standard broadband router/dialler

A proper list of what equipment you are using on your LAN and internet connection would possibly help people.
