My System: Dreambox 500 Windows XP Pro
Complete novice....!!!!

Hi Guys,
Please excuse ignorance,
In brief,
English guy, Live in Beijing, China, Have Dreambox 500 installed and is connected to internet, Can access the config setup.

I am trying to edit the channel names and delete the ones that come up but have no picture, also trying to find a way to record, I do not think this box has a hard drive, Is it meant to have one..??? If not, can it record to the computer, XP PRO.

Sorry if i have omitted anything you need,
Maybe someone could point me to a user manual for the edit and the system.

Thanks in advance of any answers

Hi,
I would suggest that you look for a settings file and load that into your 500s, you will need to download DramboxEdit and use it to send the settings file to your 500s. First thing to do is to put the ip address of your 500s into the software (DreamboxEdit) and then send the settings file to the 500s. That will place the settings file into your box and you will have a complete list of the channels that are working now. Hope this is some help to you.

If, on the other hand, you are trying to get rid of the encrypted channels then I would suggest that you do a FTA only scan.

Best regards Wez

Regarding recording:
500S is not meant to have an internal HDD. For this you should have bought 600pvr.
There are ways to record to PC, but I personally prefer to record to a DVD recorder, with or without HDD, using the Scart output and a Scart cable.
Makes making a DVD for contents that you want to keep a lot easier.

My System: dreambox 500 on fixed dish with 2 LNB aligned 134 & 138E. not connected to pc

Hi Kyle,

Like you... English guy in Beijing with a Dreambox 500. I found copy of User Manual in English, can't remember where though; but have copy if you want it. my DB has been factory reset and I can't rescan sat's - Don't understand it as it was basically acting as a standalone unit and receiving free to air.
