Dreambox 500s

I am going to purchase a dreambox 500 tomorrow and would like some advice please, I will be paying around £60.00 for the box so I would presume it is a clone so on that basis i have a couple of questions

1) Can the box image be flashed on both Ethernet and serial cable?

2) Can i load the nabilo image on the dm500?

3) I ahve the choice of a genuine dm600 for £129.00 would you pay the money for the higher version or would you go for the 500

The box is only for the kids room

Has anybody heard of satvision from Manchester as i beleive they sell the dm500 on smithfield market.

Yes it'll be a clone. The stopped making DM500 a long time ago.

Yes it can

You can load all the 500 images available apart from Gemini above 4.2.

Are you sure at £129 it's not a clone ?
It depends what you want to use it for. The DM600 can have a HDD added to it. That's the only advantage as far as I'm aware.

I've not heard of satvision. I bought my blackbox 500 (dreambox 500 clone) from linuxsat.eu. They are based in Hull. Makes it a little bit easier if you do have any problems.

I doubt very much that its an original for that kind of money. You'd usually be talking £200+ for an original.

The DM600 is slightly better spec'd than the DM500 and the hardware seems to be a little better. Also you can add a hard drive as mentioned.

Purchased a dm500 falshed with nabilo and loaded ccam, box works perfectly not bad for £70.00 worth it for the kids rooms.
